11 May 2026 Water

Hello to you today. I hope this finds you well. My thoughts today turn to water. This is what the internet had to say about current conditions:

Water shortages in the US are reaching critical levels, driven by climate change, aging infrastructure, and aquifer depletion, with New Mexico, California, Arizona, and the Colorado River Basin facing severe risks. Roughly 2.2 million Americans lack running water, and 44 million face water system quality issues. Groundwater, particularly the Ogallala aquifer, is rapidly declining. [12345]

Key Water Shortage Areas and Drivers

The West and Southwest: The Colorado River, which supplies water for seven states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming), is severely overallocated. Major reservoirs like Lake Mead and Lake Powell have experienced critically low levels.

Groundwater Depletion: Nearly 45% of water wells across the US have seen significant water level declines since 1980.

Infrastructure Issues: Aging infrastructure and failed septic systems are causing water insecurity, particularly impacting Latino, Black, and Indigenous communities.

The Ogallala Aquifer: This major agricultural water source is draining faster than it can replenish. [12345]

Impacted RegionsHighest Risk: New Mexico is classified as having “extremely high” water stress.

High Risk States: California, Arizona, Colorado, and Nebraska face high water stress.

Widespread Risk: Future projections suggest that by 2071, nearly half of the 204 freshwater basins in the US may not be able to meet monthly water demands. [12]

Solutions and OutlookLong-Term Strategies: Solutions include enhanced conservation efforts, water recycling, and desalination.

Infrastructure Investment: Increased funding for water infrastructure is considered crucial.

Agricultural Changes: Agricultural practices are expected to change significantly to reduce water consumption, as irrigation accounts for a large portion of water use. [1234]

Recent DevelopmentsAs of May 2026, widespread “severe to exceptional” drought continues in parts of the country.Renegotiations are underway for the Colorado River’s management, with key agreements set to expire.USGS released a comprehensive assessment on water resources in January 2025 to monitor these risks

All this is going on and yet they want to build huge data centers. Here is what the internet had to say about them in regards to water usage:

Data Center Water Use and Its Environmental Impact

Data centers consume significant water, often 1–5 million gallons daily for large, hyperscale facilities to cool servers, roughly equivalent to a town of 10,000–50,000 people. As AI grows, this usage is rising, with AI-related data centers in the U.S. projected to require up to 32 billion gallons annually by 2028. [123]

Key Water Usage Facts & Figures (2026):

  • Daily Consumption: Medium-sized data centers can use roughly 300,000 to 500,000 gallons daily, while large, hyperscale facilities can hit 1–5 million gallons, especially during hot weather.
  • AI Impact: An AI chat session of roughly 20-50 queries can consume up to a 500ml bottle of water.
  • Aggregate Impact: U.S. data centers combined consumed about 17 billion gallons of on-site water in 2023. While significant locally, this accounts for roughly 0.3–0.4% of total U.S. daily water withdrawals, much less than agriculture.
  • Cooling Methods: Most high-usage data centers use evaporative cooling, which evaporates water to keep servers cool, making it a high-consumption, low-return process. [12345]

Environmental and Local Impact:Local Strain: Data centers can strain local water resources, with some studies showing that 31% of freshwater withdrawals by major companies like Google in 2023 were from medium-to-high water-stressed regions.

Contamination Risks: Cooling systems can introduce biocides (to prevent bacterial growth), corrosion inhibitors, and heavy metals into local water systems.

Water Management: Operators are increasingly using “closed-loop” systems to reduce consumption and exploring alternatives to freshwater, though saltwater is generally not feasible due to mineral buildup. [1234]

Future Outlook:
Water withdrawals for AI-related operations in Texas alone could grow from 0.75% of state demand in 2025 to over 9% by 2040. Solutions like direct-to-chip and immersion cooling are being implemented to reduce, but not eliminate, the need for water. [12]

I feel bad for the people of Utah:

A massive 40,000-acre “Stratos” AI data center project, backed by Kevin O’Leary and Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA), was approved in Box Elder County, Utah, in May 2026. The project intends to support national AI capabilities with 9 gigawatts of power, though it faces intense scrutiny for high water usage and potential environmental impacts. [1234]

Key Details of the Utah AI Data Center Projects (as of May 2026)Stratos / Wonder Valley (Box Elder County)

Project Size: A massive 40,000-acre campus on unincorporated land in northwest Utah.

Developer: Backed by Kevin O’Leary (O’Leary Digital) in partnership with West GenCo and MIDA.

Power & Output: Expected to generate and use roughly 9 gigawatts of power, which is more than double the current electricity consumption of the entire state of Utah.

Environmental Concerns: Critics cite significant potential air pollution, noise, and water consumption, estimated at 16.6 billion gallons per year, potentially affecting the Great Salt Lake.

Community Reaction: The Box Elder County Commission approved the project unanimously despite strong opposition from residents regarding resources, according to reports in the Salt Lake Tribune and USA Today.

Purpose: Touted by supporters as a critical AI infrastructure project to enhance US security against global competitors.

Unfortunately Idaho is not immune to the data centers and apparently has AI data centers under construction:

Idaho Conservation League:

🚧🤖 Idaho’s first AI data center is under construction– and another is on the way. More and more tech companies are eying Idaho for new data centers because of our relatively low electricity rates, abundance of land, existing tax breaks for these facilities, and our generally anti-regulation state government. This is likely just the beginning of the data center boom in Idaho.⚡️

🔋With electricity rates already increasing as a result of population growth and large industrial customers, we need to make sure that residential customers don’t subsidize infrastructure and energy costs related to these facilities. As we enter the brave new world of AI mega data centers, we should strive to be as prepared as possible to handle the increased strain they will put on our electric grid and water supply. 💧

7 May 2026 Purple

Hello there! How are you? I am just from a walk. I forced myself to go and I’m glad I did. This morning I stayed home from Thursday prayer because I had a sore throat when I woke up and was afraid I was coming down with something. False alarm!

On the walk this evening I had the privilege of seeing flowers in particular purple flowers:

Beautiful purple Iris
My neighbor Diana’s lovely purple flowers

I’m going to attempt this one today:

Dear Jesus I thank you for this day. I ask that you wrap your loving arms around all who need you. Please guide leaders at all levels of government to do your will and not just their own. Please be, through us your vessels, with the sick, poor, weary, healing, angry, addicted and hungry. Let your presence be the balm that ends all wars and “isms” of this world. Amen.

22 Apr 2026 Earth Day

Hello to you on this Earth Day. Did you do anything special?

Earth Day

Celebration

DateWednesday, April 22, 2026

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally through earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

When I lived in Texas I had a grass yard and used to spend almost every day outside. I felt connected to everything- the sky, trees, plants, insects and other earth beings. Now that I live in a home surrounded by gravel/rocks I don’t spend as much time outside. When it gets warmer I will sit on my front porch some but it’s just not the same as having the privacy of a green back yard. I feel bad for Link as the only grass he gets to enjoy is when we go to my Aunt and Uncles house. Yesterday I had to pick a lot of weeds out back. They are growing through the layer beneath the rocks. I don’t have the lawn people coming and spraying the weeds anymore so I have to do it manually.

A nice prayer I found for this day:

A Prayer for Our Earth (Based on Laudato Si’)
“All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty… Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction”.

The next phase of the dandelions

Hello to you. How are you doing? I’m doing ok – just back from my second walk today. It’s really warm! It’s 74 degrees right now. Today began early as Link had his grooming appointment with Clean Pups Diana. She does such a good job with him!

He looks so much better!

My heart goes out to the families that lost their little ones in Louisiana – so senseless! I hope the women involved will be surrounded with love and healing. They will need so much understanding and kindness if they survive their injuries:

https://www.npr.org/2026/04/19/nx-s1-5790483/mass-shooting-eight-children-louisiana-shrevepor :

A gunman killed eight children and wounded two women in a Northwest Louisiana incident that stemmed from a domestic disturbance, the Shreveport Police Department said Sunday.

The adult male suspect is dead, authorities said. Police named the suspect as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, of Shreveport. Elkins was believed to be the father of seven of the children killed, Shreveport Police Cpl. Christopher Bordelon said.

Can Only Imagine

Song by MercyMe

OverviewLyrics

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes would see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine
Yeah

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees, will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees, will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine, yeah-yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine

Why!…

Song by Enigma ‧ 1996

OverviewLyrics

I was childish and unfair
To you, my only friend
I regret, but now it’s too late
I can’t show you any more

The things I’ve learned from you
‘Cause life just took you away
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)

Nobody gives an answer
I’m just asking why?
But someday we’ll meet again
And I’ll ask you

I’ll ask you why?
Why it has to be like this
I’m asking you why?
Please, give me an answer

Many years and stupid fights
Till we accept to see
How it was and it’ll always be
Why it has to be like this?
Why we don’t realize?

Why we’re too blind to see the one
Who’s always on our side?
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)

Nobody gives an answer
I’m just asking why?
Just tell me why?
Why it has to be like this

That the good ones disappear
I’m asking you why?
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)

Nobody gives an answer
I’m just asking why?
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)

I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)
I’m asking why? (I’m asking why?)

Prayer I found online specifically for victims of gun violence:

A Prayer for Healing and Comfort
“God of mercy, our hearts ache for those injured in acts of violence. We pray for healing for those who are injured and hospitalized. We pray for comfort for families and friends of each victim. Give solace to grieving communities, and bring peace to anxious hearts. Bring them healing and peace in the face of this tragedy. Amen

8 Apr 2026 Pushing On

Hello to you. How are you doing? Since Sunday I haven’t been feeling so good. I’m writing to you from bed and it’s only 7 pm! Still very light out. I just feel weak and low energy. This too shall pass and I know I will push on beyond whatever this is. The only thing different I’m doing is I have started taking loratadine which is generic Claritin for allergies. The Flonase hasn’t arrived yet. This is another way of tackling the fullness in my ears.

Dear Jesus please be with my Uncle Bill as he navigates issues going on with his heart. I also ask you be with my cousin Heidi as she continues to heal. I ask you to be with the people in war torn countries- let there be peace. I pray you guide leaders at all levels of government – please give our elected officials the courage to stop the mad king! Amen.

2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”

27 Mar 2026 Blooms

Hello to you. How are you doing? I hope well. Today is day three of taking the Oregano oil – no real change yet. I am in the supposed clean out phase but don’t feel it yet. My Aunt recommended my talking to my doctor about a drug called wegovy. It can help with weight loss. I’m not happy with the side effects I read about- it supposedly slows down digestion which could affect the effectiveness of Depakote I take for being Bipolar. I am pretty sure I would have to pay out of pocket for it too but can’t hurt to ask about it. When I was prescribed a multi vitamin and vitamin D3 through the VA and had to pay out of pocket for both of them.

During the walk today I noticed lots of flowers – especially dandelions. I learned a while back that dandelions are not weeds but natural medicine. Also the bees rely on dandelion as an early food source. I saw but couldn’t capture actual images of bees visiting the yellow flowers. I am grateful to my neighbors who just let them bloom and don’t spray poison on them.

Dear Jesus I pray for this world and all the life within it. May there be peace in the war ravaged regions. I pray especially for the innocent children in these places- shield them from harm. I pray for you to make your presence known – illuminate the dark places. Please be with those dealing with the destruction of their homes after natural and man made disasters. I pray you be with all those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. I pray for your presence with the sick, healing, recovering and the poor. Please be with all animals that are suffering needlessly. Amen.

Romans 15:13New International Version

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peaceas you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

24 Mar 2026 Beauty

View from my back door today- the fruit trees are in bloom. When you get close to them you can hear the humming of the bees.

Hello to you. How are you? Today has been long for me. The fullness in my ears has been really intense the past couple of days but I am pushing on. I have an appointment with my doctor next week. I am curious as to what she is going to say since the ear drops/ear infection treatment didn’t get rid of it.

With my physical discomfort aside, boy is it beautiful outside these days! The fruit trees in my neighbors backyard are literally humming with new life. The bees love fruit trees! We have cherry, apricot, plum and apple trees in our neighborhood. Sadly most of the fruit ends up on the ground or the squirrels and birds eat it.

Matthew 7:16-20New International Version

16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Ai interpretation of this passage:

Matthew 7:16-20 teaches that people’s true character, especially that of spiritual teachers, is revealed by their actions and life outcomes (“fruit”), not by their words or appearances. Jesus explains that good character produces good deeds, while corrupt hearts produce bad fruit, urging followers to evaluate and avoid false prophets.

Dear Jesus thank you for yet another day of life. I pray to you for all in this world that need your healing and loving touch. All that need reassurance that you are present in their lives. For with you no one is truly alone in whatever it is they are going through. Amen.

14 Mar 2026 Wind

Hello to you. Hope this finds you well. I’m just back from a short walk and boy is it windy! I remembered to take my camera so I could get a couple pictures of spring blooms. It was a little tricky with it being so windy.

Yesterday began early for me. I actually didn’t wake up until my alarm went off! My Aunt invited me to the monthly gathering of Sisters of Grace and they meet at 9:00. When I go with her I drive to her house and then we drive together to the church. She made bread pudding to take along that came out really good. There was a good turnout. The ladies are so welcoming and kind! Being with so many kind souls is good for me. We sang this song that I really like:

https://youtu.be/r3K3roEF36k?si=vqBS5MqMhSzaiU9v – 10,000 Reasons Bless the Lord – Matt Redman

Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin [Key: C#]

Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.

Verse 1 The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning; It’s time to sing Your song again. Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, Let me be singing when the evening comes.

Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.

Verse 2 You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger, Your Name is great and Your heart is kind; For all Your goodness I will keep on singing, Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.

Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.

Verse 3 And on that day when my strength is failing, The end draws near and my time has come; Still my soul sings Your praise unending, Ten thousand years and then forevermore.

Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.

1 Jan 2026 Snow

Hello to you. Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe we are in a new year already. The past couple of days I have been having trouble with the pooling sensation in my ears. It makes me feel anxious. Writing helps take my mind off of it.

I was brainstorming with my friend what I should write about today. She suggested memories of when I was growing up in South Dakota. I had mentioned to her about us getting so much snow we tunneled through to our neighbors house! I can remember having snacks with Marie and Wayne to pass the time. We use to get so much snow my parents couldn’t get to work which was rare. The snow was thick and crunchy when you walked on it. I learned how to drive on snow – Datsun 210 with stick shift!

The other place I have got snowed in was base housing at Peterson AFB Colorado. There was so much snow it blocked the door to the house. It went from the roof to the ground! The other places I lived – Germany, Delaware, Texas and now Idaho have all gotten snow several times. We never got snow in Florida. I don’t mind snow except driving in it!

Links paw print in the snow

Dear Jesus I ask for your continued care for our family members and friends right now. Please send your healing love to us. I ask for your wisdom to guide leaders at all levels of government. Please help the people of Washington State and the Philippines with their recovery from natural disasters. Thank you for hearing our prayers.

24 Nov 2025 Reaching Out

Hello there – how are you? It’s nighttime and close to bed time as I write to you. I was just looking at the stats for my blog for the past couple of days and was delighted to see how many different countries were lit up! I’ve always said that even if my words reach one other person and help them I’ve done a good thing. Sometimes reaching out is just to myself- getting out of my own head the thoughts that tumble around in there. Since I have become more active in my faith, I have been using my blog to reach out. May be something in my posts touches a part of you that needs to be touched. May be Jesus has found a way for me to be useful after all!

If Jesus wants to capture your attention, he will find his messenger to reach you. He uses the most unlikely of candidates to do this work. Lord knows I’m about as broken as you can get but he hasn’t given up on me yet. Once you say yes to Jesus you can never say no again… not without consequences.

Our little miracle Link with his momma Tippie

What is keeping you from Jesus? Sometimes things happen in our lives that make us mad at God. We want to blame someone for our misfortunes. If I were to tell you that for everything that happens in our lives is for a reason even if at the time it seems senseless would that help you to reconsider your relationship with Jesus? I think of each of our lives as part of an extremely complicated board game. So many pieces of this game have to be moved in just the right order by God for even one prayer to be answered. For example after my dog Sam died I spent three years grieving and begging God to bring him back to me. Well his answer came when I found two parts to a Christmas ornament from the Choctaw reservation announcing the arrival of a little drummer boy. I initially thought my friend Erin was pregnant as she is part Choctaw but no her dog Tippie was! We had said that if Tippie ever had a boy we’d adopt. Well Tippie gave us not one boy to choose from but three! Dutch, TJ and Link. God answered my prayers in the time it needed to take. He heard my cries and Link was that answer but so many things had to happen for him to exist. My God is a mighty God who even though I wasn’t a Christian at the time loved me.

The ornament I found and notes I wrote to include a little song

Psalm 77[a]

For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm.

I cried out to God for help;
I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
at night I stretched out untiring hands,
and I would not be comforted.

I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.[b]
You kept my eyes from closing;
I was too troubled to speak.
I thought about the former days,
    the years of long ago;
I remembered my songs in the night.
My heart meditated and my spirit asked:

“Will the Lord reject forever?
Will he never show his favor again?
Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
Has his promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be merciful?
Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”

10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:
the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

13 Your ways, God, are holy.
What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.
15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

16 The waters saw you, God,
    the waters saw you and writhed;
    the very depths were convulsed.
17 The clouds poured down water,
    the heavens resounded with thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.
18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
    your lightning lit up the world;
    the earth trembled and quaked.
19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.

20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
