21 September 2023 Life Without Music

What would your life be like without music?

Hello to you. I hope this finds you well. Today I got my latest supplements I’m trying to help me lose weight – Evolve. We shall see what happens.

My life without music would be intolerable. I can’t even imagine a world without music! Music is a big part of how I remember so much. It’s either in the background or in the forefront of what’s going on in my life. Music is an integral part of the multi sensory aspect of memories for me. When I recall certain memories and have trouble all I need to do is pick a song and that helps me.

There is an organization called Music and Memory that really shows how powerful music is to waking up people that have “gone to sleep” in their bodies.

Psalm 96:1-3New International Version

Psalm 96

1 Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

19 September 2023 Baking Fail

Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail.

I would have to say my worst baking fail is chocolate chip cookies. When you live in a different climate, altitude, access to different quality ingredients, different stove- it all affects the outcome of what your making. By the time I left Texas, I pretty much had everything down and the cookies were consistently good. I had my fans – my Dad and my exes brother in particular ! When they came to visit they would make a beeline towards the container I used to keep them in! I haven’t baked really since I got here. Just too many calories for one person.

Exodus 16:23New International Version

23 He said to them, “This is what the Lord-commande: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’”

18 September 2023 Early Lesson

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

The lesson I wish I had learned earlier in life is my value or worth. I don’t think I’ve ever really learned that lesson. To this day I still don’t really have this down. The book by Amy Tan Joy Luck Club talks about this concept. It’s a sort of muti-general trauma that gets passed on from one generation to the next. Not realizing our value or what we have until it’s compromised or gone.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20New International Version

19 Do you not know that your bodies are templesof the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

17 September 2023 Favorite Food

What are your favorite types of foods?

My favorite types of foods are desserts. I like most anything sweet. Be it a candy bar or a piece of pie. As I age I can’t eat them like used to.

1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.NIV: New International Version

16 September 2023 Walking or Running (How Often)

How often do you walk or run?

Hello to you. How are you? Todays prompt brings me back to when I used to run track and cross country in High School and the Air Force. I wasn’t the fastest runner but I was steady. I ran slow at first and then sped up towards the end of the races. My knees got bad so now I just walk and that’s a struggle for me because of chronic lower back pain I have now. I go for walks each day in the evening and have to stop about half way because of the pain. Getting old sucks but I refuse to let it keep me down.

This was one of my favorite scenes in The Chosen- Jesus heals the Leper The Chosen https://youtu.be/VL8DThllZAY?si=X5DXm1AdXxS3ZXoQ

Matthew 8:1-4New International Version

8 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy[a] came and knelt before himand said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy

3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

15 September 2023 Leader

Do you see yourself as a leader?

I don’t think of myself as a leader but I’m not a very good follower either – somewhere in between. When I was in the military I questioned authority quite a bit! It was hard having so many bosses. I had my direct supervisor who had a supervisor which was also my supervisor all the way up to the President of the United States.! There was a lot of inconsistency along the way.

Colossians 3:12-13New International Version

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

14 September 2023 Favorite Word

What’s your favorite word?

Hi there. I’m just back from our Thursday prayer meeting and getting groceries. I’m grateful for the gathering today and the prayers for my health by the folks gathered there. Which leads me to one of my top favorite words gratitude. Adopting an attitude of gratitude in any season of life can really make it easier to get through. It’s focusing not on what’s on wrong but what’s right. There have been times lately with the stuff I’m going through that I have wanted to give up. Getting into a gratitude attitude has pushed me through those times.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4)

13 September 2023 Door to the Sun

Hello to you, I hope this finds you well. Last nights Bible study was good , there were four of us. I have trouble reading scripture and being able to understand it sometimes. I’m glad we have other ladies there to help break it down.

Drawing for today

Today I got to thinking about the probe we sent to the sun. The Parker Probe is the closest thing we have to a door inside of the sun. When I was having my episodes in Texas and spending time outside I felt like I was having a relationship with the sun. Weird I know but during those times everything was communicating with me!

In December 2021, the Parker Probe reached the atmosphere of the sun. Since then, it’s been looping around the sun, drawing closer each time, and sending back tons of data about everything it encounters.Aug 11, 2023

Psalm 113New International Version

Psalm 113

Praise the Lord.[a]

Praise the Lord, you his servants;
    praise the name of the Lord.
Let the name of the Lord be praised,
    both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
    the name of the Lord is to be praised.

The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
    his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
    the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
    on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes,
    with the princes of his people.
He settles the childless woman in her home
    as a happy mother of children.

Praise the Lord.

8 September 2023 Give up one Word

If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?

If I had a word or phrase I could give up it’s “just. “ I usually use this word to make excuses for not doing something.

Deuteronomy 16:20New International Version

20 Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

4 September 2023 Tear of Joy

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

I used to be the “who dropped the hat lady” the person who would cry at the drop of a hat. I’m not really like that any more – the past few years events has really toughened me up. The one thing that still brings a tear of joy is seeing someone I haven’t seen in a long time. I am like a dog I think in that regard! Just so happy, on a soul level, to see you. I can remember the times my parents came to visit Kyle and I in Texas or when when my friend Melinda visited – just such a surprise and so much happiness. There are aspects like this that make me miss the house in Texas.

Proverbs 24:3-4New International Version

Saying 21

3 By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
4 through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.
