4 Feb 2024 Time

How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

In my experience the best healer of the wounds of life is time. The further I get along beyond a significant event that has happened the less it hurts. There is no cure for grief but time. My cocker spaniel Sam taught me this after his passing. It took 3 years and getting another dog to get some relief from my grief over Sam’s passing. When we lost Sam we realized nothing of this world could fill the void inside- no food, no drink, no material possessions could heal the pain.

James 4:14New International Version

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

5 Jan 2024 Vivid Dream

Last night I had a vivid dream like I haven’t had in a long time. I dreamt of falling asleep in a dark room and then all the sudden the light coming on. The light switch had been flipped on and no one but me was in the room. I went and told my mom Dianne about it in the dream. I startled awake from this dream as it was so vivid! I couldn’t really fall back asleep.

Genesis 40:8New International Version

“We both had dreams,” they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.”

Then Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”

2 Jan 2024 Playtime

Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

Playtime is not something I think about much anymore. I used to play during time in the kitchen – I would dance and sing. Ever since I hurt my back last winter I haven’t been able to dance and even walking has been difficult. I have become a very serious person with all that has been going on in my life the past few years. My family wants me to get my back checked so I probably will need to get that done through the VA soon.

Ecclesiastes 3:1New International Version

A Time for Everything

3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

10 Dec 2023 Admiration

What is something others do that sparks your admiration?

Something that sparks my admiration in others is thoughtfulness. I have people in my life that are extremely thoughtful and pray and look out for others. I used to be a lot more thoughtful than I am now. It takes a lot of energy to be thoughtful. I mostly pray for people now than do or buy things to show I’m thinking of them.

Ephesians 4:32New International Version

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another,forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

27 Nov 2023 Dream

This morning I had a dream with my Aunt and my Dad in it. It’s the first dream I’ve had with my Dad since his passing. I was so happy to see him. From what I’ve learned from watching mediums like Matt Fraser, our loved ones reach us through dreams. I don’t remember specifically what the dream was about as it happened just for a few seconds before my alarm went off that I forgot I set. I hope there will be more dreams like that in the future. Love seeing my Dad healthy and strong!

Acts 2:17New International Version

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.

15 Nov 2023 When it Rains it Pours

Hello to you. How are you? It feels like we are in a time of raining. A generation of people are passing on and also a generation of pets are getting old dog issues. I just had a friend lose her mom. I’m still coming to terms with losing my Dad. Our family dog Spot is having health issues. When it rains it pours.

In all this is finding reasons to be grateful and reasons to be positive. We need to turn to our faith and lean on Jesus more than ever before. All of this is part of life as my Dad used to say to me all the time. My Dad didn’t talk much but when he did he had wise things to say. I’ll never forget the day he and I were sitting on my back porch in Texas and we were talking about God. We agreed God is in everything. This is is so true!

Psalm 37:3-7New International Version

Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous rewardshine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

14 Nov 2023 Meeting

Who is the most famous or infamous person you have ever met?

Hello to you. I’m trying to get help with my medication. I’ve been taking more than I have been prescribed and am almost out again. I have just been so anxious and the olanzapine is the only thing that works to help calm me. I might have to go back in to the walk in clinic which sucks as I have to get someone to take me.

The most famous person I have had contact with is Jonathan Rhys Meyers and his wife Mara Lane. I sent him a fan letter and they responded. Which is very rare. The other famous person I saw at an airport was Lyle Alzado of the Oakland Raiders. The team came and sat in the restaurant my ex and I were sitting in. They were so big! Lyle was at his best – before he was sick from steroids. I knew as soon as he was walking by that “he was somebody!”

I need to get better about this!

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

11 Nov 2023 Veterans Day

Long long time ago!
My Auntie sent this to me yesterday and it really resonated with me!

Today is Veterans Day. It feels like another life ago that I was active duty. I don’t miss the job but do miss the people and friends I made. There was such a comraderie amongst us. We were in many ways like family to eachother. When I was overseas this was especially so. I can remember when I first arrived at my first duty station of Travis AFB in California it was around Thanksgiving. I was invited to a coworkers (Sara Sanders) home and that meant so much!

Psalm 33:20-22New International Version

20 We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.

10 Nov 2023 Sisters of Grace and Favorite School Subject

What was your favorite subject in school?

I was up and awake early this morning and was able to join my Aunt at a Sisters of Grace gathering at the Nampa campus of Grace Bible Church. There were so many there they had to pull out an extra table! There were a lot of good messages to go along with the good food and company. My Aunt brought her plum cobbler that was really good!

Grateful by the letters

My favorite subject in school was creative writing. I used to write short stories and still on occasion write poetry. My creative juices are almost dried up these days. The medication I’m on controls the same place my creativity comes from. It’s either be creative and manic or be “normal” and not creative. I don’t want to end up in the hospital again so medication it is! Like some people are diabetic or have heart conditions I am living with a condition that is potentially fatal if it goes untreated. It’s taken a long time for me to accept this truth.

9 Nov 2023 Screen Time

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

Hello to you. How are you? Todays prompt isn’t an easy one for me as I don’t do a very good job managing screen time. I spend most of my day on my phone. It helps me get through the day. I haven’t found something to do besides Thursday prayer meetings yet. I say yet as I’m open to opportunity if it should arise. God has a plan for me I just don’t know what it is yet. I have to get over my phobia about driving here. Once I know the outcome of the stuff I’m facing on 28 November I should be able to consider volunteer work again. This passage from Luke resonates – I must be ready at all times.

Luke 12:35-40 New International Version

Watchfulness

35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, o will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
