16 March 2024 Confidence

Who is the most confident person you know?

The most confident person I know is my Uncle John. He is a renaissance man, jack of all trades. He can fix most anything and if he doesn’t know what to do he does research and finds out how. I have a vacuum I want to see if he can fix! He takes great joy in taking things apart and putting them back together. I can remember one year we gave him a friction powered flashlight and he just loved it. He took it apart and put it back together just to see how it worked.

Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

13 March 2024 Repeated Watching

What movies or TV series have you watched more than 5 times?

I have watched Blade Runner, Purple Rain, Somewhere in Time, Cat People, The Hunger, Fried Green Tomatoes, Smoke Signals and Star Trek Next Generation more than 5 times. There are probably some others but these came to mind.

What are the most repeated verses in the Bible?

“Do not fear” is in 281. “Faith” is in 1241 verses. “Have faith” is in 784 verses. “Trust in the Lord” is in 213 verses; “in the name of the Lord” is in 472; “the lord thy god” is in 737

12 March 2024 Superstitious

Are you superstitious?

I don’t think I’ve ever been superstitious. Like having a lucky item or piece of clothing. I kind of had a thing about Friday the 13th for a time until my birthday was on that date and other people I know and love had it too. It wasn’t something to fear but something to celebrate.

Matthew 17:20New International Version

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.Nothing will be impossible for you.”

11 March 2024 Animal

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

The animal I would compare myself to is a bird of prey. They are always watching for an opportunity for a meal from the outside. They live much of their lives as observers and feared and misunderstood by other animals. I can relate to their behavior.

Isaiah 11:6-9New International Version

The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling[a]together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea

4 March 2024 Joy

What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

My middle name is Joy and I’d like to think that’s because that’s what my parents felt when I was born. That’s what I’ve been told they felt when I arrived!

Psalm 21:5-7New International Version

K5 Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord;
through the unfailing love of the Most High
    he will not be shaken.

6 March 2024 Question

What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

I don’t really have a question I hate to be asked. I am really an open book about most things. Almost to a fault I am open about myself.

Matthew 28:19-20New International Version

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with youalways, to the very end of the age.”

22 Feb 2024 Boredom

What bores you?

I would have to say nothing really bores me right now. I am in a in between time in my life and gradually my days are beginning to fill up with interesting moments. Being medically retired at such an early age I am learning from my Aunts age group about retirement (70’s).

He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age” (Ruth 4:15 NIV).

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4 NIV).

17 Feb 2024 Birthdays

On the 13th my cousin and I celebrated our birthdays 4 years apart. He celebrated the big 60 and I 56th. We are going to have a family gathering tomorrow. My Aunt took me to our favorite place in Star called the Rustic Table on my birthday and that was delicious. I had filet mignon and we had chocolate cream pie for the birthday dessert. What a treat! It’s a blessing we get to celebrate birthdays together!

Proverbs 9:11New International Version

11 For through wisdom[a] your days will be many,
and years will be added to your life.

6 Feb 2024 Inventions

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

I would have to say WiFi and cell phones are the most important inventions of my time. I can remember life before it and it was a lot different! I remember time without a cell phone – the closest thing was a CB radio! My Uncle Ronnie used the CB in his truck to let us know he was coming instead of using a regular phone. I remember dial up modems (DSL). It was so unpredictable and unstable. Up until few years ago my ex and I just had flip phones and hardly used them. Now we have smart phones and I don’t know what I’d do without them!

John 15:4-5New International Version

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

4 Feb 2024 Time

How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

In my experience the best healer of the wounds of life is time. The further I get along beyond a significant event that has happened the less it hurts. There is no cure for grief but time. My cocker spaniel Sam taught me this after his passing. It took 3 years and getting another dog to get some relief from my grief over Sam’s passing. When we lost Sam we realized nothing of this world could fill the void inside- no food, no drink, no material possessions could heal the pain.

James 4:14New International Version

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
