What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

I don’t really have a favorite Olympic sport – I enjoy whatever is being broadcasted on the networks. I feel like whatever is being broadcasted is what they want us to be rooting for. Like when Michael Phelps was going for more gold medals I feel like my favorite sport was watching him with all the hype that was being given to him.

How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

Something that has gotten easier as I’ve gotten older is saying no. I used to say yes all the time and would get a resentment as a result. I felt like I had to say yes or I was a bad person. Now I realize that it doesn’t make me a bad person to say no sometimes especially if it’s not in my best interest. Sometimes no is the right answer – a catalyst for something else better to happen. An example is my ex brother in law asked my ex and I to come to Florida to a Ozz fest and I said I didn’t want to go. Well we didn’t go and he ended up meeting his future wife! Spending too much time making a decision means usually the answer is no for now – “too many mind.”

What do you wish you could do more every day?

I wish I had more stamina and energy to do more exercise each day. I need to lose weight!

What is one word that describes you?

One word that describes me is resilient. Despite all the difficulties I have faced in my life I have been able to bounce back from most of them. I think God has been walking with me through most of the trials! We get shaped and sculpted into who he wants us to be during trials just as much as through tribulations.

James 1:2-4 (NIV) – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Who is the most confident person you know?

The most confident person I know is my Uncle John. He is a renaissance man, jack of all trades. He can fix most anything and if he doesn’t know what to do he does research and finds out how. I have a vacuum I want to see if he can fix! He takes great joy in taking things apart and putting them back together. I can remember one year we gave him a friction powered flashlight and he just loved it. He took it apart and put it back together just to see how it worked.

What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

I think the experiences I have learned and grown the most from have been adversities. When life is easy and care free I can get settled in my ways. Working through adversity requires critical thinking sometimes. Thinking outside the box – the norm.

What bores you?

I would have to say nothing really bores me right now. I am in a in between time in my life and gradually my days are beginning to fill up with interesting moments. Being medically retired at such an early age I am learning from my Aunts age group about retirement (70’s).

What makes a good leader?

Good morning. As I write to you I’m full of gratitude. Yesterday my pastor and his son came by with a snow blower and shoveled me out of my driveway! It meant so much to me that they did that!

I think what makes a good leader is someone who won’t ask their people to do what they won’t do themselves. Also a good leader is one of action not just words. My pastor is a good example of leadership in action. As I get to know him better the more I respect him! It’s not easy being in his position but he does it so well.

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

I think if I could in-invent anything in this world it would be guns. I know people including people I love use guns for hunting game but because of a gun I grew up without my birth mother. I lost a cousin. I know people say that if there aren’t guns they would find another way to kill and that’s true. There are other weapons. I just hate the mass carnage guns are capable of specifically automatic rifles.

14 Jan 2024 Snowed In and Fellowship

Yesterday the snow just didn’t let up and so we are snowed in. I didn’t go to church this morning as my car was buried and they don’t plow the side roads. My neighbor came and helped me excavate my car. I have an appointment on Tuesday so hopefully we don’t get more snow by then!
