25 April 2024 Risk

When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?

I would say the last big risk I took was buying a house versus renting an apartment. When I first moved to Idaho we looked at rentals and they just wanted too much money. First and second months rent plus a hefty pet deposit. I decided why not talk to a realtor and see if I could find a house. God answered our prayers and I found a realtor who found me my current home. I had enough money to put down a decent down payment from the sale of the Texas house. I’m glad I took the chance.

Ecclesiastes 9:11New International Version

11 I have seen something else under the sun:

The race is not to the swift
    or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
    or wealth to the brilliant
    or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.

17 April 2024 Decision

Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

A decision I made that helped me grow was going back to church and becoming a Christian this past year. I had stopped going to church for a long time. The whole 12 years I lived in Texas and part of the time I lived in Delaware. I was a pagan for all that time. I was raised Roman Catholic and became disenchanted with it and stopped going. My ex and I used to go but felt like we didn’t belong. Since making the choice to allow Christ to be my savior I have made friends and church family at Grace Bible Church in Middleton. I am not alone anymore! I am finding my way with the help of my family and church family. There is a little part of me that is still reserved but I am learning to surrender. I have always believed in Jesus just hadn’t completely surrendered to him.

Philippians 4:13New International Version

13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength

23 March 2024 Weather

What is your favorite type of weather?

I have a couple kinds of favorite weather. One is sunny cold weather that nips your cheeks and the other is seventy degree weather with blue skies and the air is soft.

Isaiah 1:18New International Version

18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
    says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
    they shall be like wool.

17 March 2024 Cross Country Trip

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

Today is a beautiful day. The skies have been full of geese and that has been amazing! Like watching angels fill the sky.

It’s a toss up between taking an airplane or a car to make a cross country trip. The last trip I made was via pick up truck with my cousins wife. We drove from Texas to Idaho and it was a long trip. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 4 years! We drove right through Covid and when it was a scary time to travel. I am so grateful to have been traveling with such experienced travelers. It’s been several years since I’ve been on an airplane – can’t even remember what year it was!

Luke 9 :: NIV. and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the journey–no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town.

6 Feb 2024 Inventions

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

I would have to say WiFi and cell phones are the most important inventions of my time. I can remember life before it and it was a lot different! I remember time without a cell phone – the closest thing was a CB radio! My Uncle Ronnie used the CB in his truck to let us know he was coming instead of using a regular phone. I remember dial up modems (DSL). It was so unpredictable and unstable. Up until few years ago my ex and I just had flip phones and hardly used them. Now we have smart phones and I don’t know what I’d do without them!

John 15:4-5New International Version

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

4 Feb 2024 Time

How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

In my experience the best healer of the wounds of life is time. The further I get along beyond a significant event that has happened the less it hurts. There is no cure for grief but time. My cocker spaniel Sam taught me this after his passing. It took 3 years and getting another dog to get some relief from my grief over Sam’s passing. When we lost Sam we realized nothing of this world could fill the void inside- no food, no drink, no material possessions could heal the pain.

James 4:14New International Version

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

19 Jan 2024 Leadership

What makes a good leader?

Good morning. As I write to you I’m full of gratitude. Yesterday my pastor and his son came by with a snow blower and shoveled me out of my driveway! It meant so much to me that they did that!

I think what makes a good leader is someone who won’t ask their people to do what they won’t do themselves. Also a good leader is one of action not just words. My pastor is a good example of leadership in action. As I get to know him better the more I respect him! It’s not easy being in his position but he does it so well.

Proverbs 3:13-18New International Version

13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.

18 Jan 2024 Un-inventing

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

I think if I could in-invent anything in this world it would be guns. I know people including people I love use guns for hunting game but because of a gun I grew up without my birth mother. I lost a cousin. I know people say that if there aren’t guns they would find another way to kill and that’s true. There are other weapons. I just hate the mass carnage guns are capable of specifically automatic rifles.

Exodus 20:13New International Version

13 “You shall not murder.

10 Jan 2024 Snow

Links paths in the snow this morning trying to find a spot to do his business

This morning we woke up to snow that fell over night. We got quite a bit! I’ll probably need to go out and shovel it in a bit as I don’t think it will melt on its own.

Psalm 51:7New International Version

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

26 Dec 2023 Favorite Car

What is your all time favorite automobile?

I would have to say my all time favorite car is the Sting Ray Corvette. One of my favorite memories is my Dads best friend David letting me drive his. I sat so low in it! I can’t remember the color I think it was green.

Psalm 16:11New International Version

11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
