13 May 2018 Dreaming stone (Labradorite) and Mom’s Day

Hello to you.  Today has been a really  nice day.  My sweetheart cooked us dinner while I was outside drawing and sweating – really warm and humid today.

13 May 2018 – this drawing is me thinking of myself as a baby blue dragon clutching my labradorite ball last night. I had like 2 or 3 lucid dreams in a row! One of them is represented by the little black girl holding a pink crystal necklace. She wanted to take it and I told her no. There is also a box represented by the realtor like lady from one of the dreams last night. There is a box with two people with huge dogs – these special beautiful beings seem to show up and just disappear for me. The dogs they are with are almost like spirits more than dogs.

Hope all the folks that nurture others are having a special day.   The term “Mom” isn’t just for women in my book.  I called my Mom today and it was hard because there was so much I wanted to say but tears got to me first.  For all my Mom and I have been through, I just dearly love her and am so grateful for all the important things she managed to get through my thick skull.  This is her first Mother’s Day without her Mom and I can only imagine how surreal that would be if I were in her shoes.  We lost Grandma a couple of months ago.  We had all been praying for her to “be free” but as we all know, it’s not all up to us with these sort of things.

13 May 2018 – drawing I did after I talked to Mom

As I mentioned in my notes with the drawing, last night I decided to sleep with my Labradorite crystal ball and it was like one lucid dream after another.  This hasn’t happened to me in a long time.    Both of the orbs I have are in the picture.  Do you have a favorite crystal for dream travels?

What is Labradorite?

Labradorite Gemstone Information

About Labradorite – History and Introduction

Labradorite is a gemstone that was named after Labrador in Canada, where it was found on the Isle of Paul, near Nain in 1770. It has since been found in other places, including Finland, Madagascar, and Australia. After its discovery, labradorite became popular with the missionaries. Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar which shows adularescence (a white or bluish light seen when turned). This optical effect is so unique to labradorite that it has been termed “labradorescence”. It is the result of diffraction of light in the layers of rock. When viewed at certain angles, labradorite exhibits such captivating color that has led to Inuit legends stating that the Northern Lights shone down on the shores of Labrador and were captured inside these colorful stones. The most highly valued labradorite is material that shows the full spectrum of color in its labradorescence. Labradorite that does not exhibit labradorescence can still make beautiful gemstones because of aventurescence, which is a glitter caused by diffraction of light from mineral platelets.

There are three further types of labradorite; spectrolite, andesine-labradorite and rainbow moonstone (which is sometimes referred to by the trade name, “Madagascar moonstone”). As the trade name indicates, rainbow moonstone comes from Madagascar and it has an intense blue schiller. Spectrolite is a rare labradorite from Finland. It is known for displaying a beautiful spectral play of color, hence the name, “spectrolite”. Andesine-labradorite is created by enhancing the color of labradorite.

Labradorite Gemstone Mythology, Metaphysical and Alternative Crystal Healing Powers Back to Top

According to an Inuit legend, the Northern Lights are captured in the minerals on the coast of Labrador. This is not surprising considering the magical, iridescent color of labradorite. Labradorite is thought to be a magical stone that possesses powerful protective properties and helps its wearer to find their true path in life. It is thought to “bring light” to the otherwise unknown, and thus provide its wearer with insight. Additionally, labradorite is credited with having the ability to bring out the positive in people and calm overactive minds, bringing peace to its wearer. Labradorite is also thought to soothe menstrual problems, aid disorders of the lungs, prevent colds, help with digestion and regulate both metabolism and blood pressure. In traditional Hindu belief systems, labradorite is associated with the throat chakra, or vishuddha, which is the center of purification. The throat chakra is associated with hearing, speech and self-expression. Wearing labradorite is thought to contribute to true and honest expression. Labradorite is said to facilitate communication between the spiritual and physical world, helping its wearer to recall dreams and experiences from past lives. It is therefore thought to help bring out psychic abilities.

4 Dec 2017 Journey in my mind using pieces of glass about May cat’s rainbow bridge crossing

Hello to you.  I wanted to share the meditation/grief and therapy session I had this afternoon about our May transitioning beyond us.  I hope something in what you see here will resonate with your heart somehow.  There is no definitive proof of what happens to what was “us” after we die but I like to think we return to the light….the One..to God.  The actual place, if there is such a thing, where the energy comes from for all of what life on earth is.  Back to what “animates” us so we can begin anew.  For those who have lost loved ones of any kind,  I hope this train of thought here helps you heal.  Much love and light to you.

7 Aug 2017 Dream and the act of “Adulting” (Abandoning Adulthood My Official Letter of Resignation piece by Maureen)

4 Aug 2017 – we are so grateful for Spot. She is an active dog and because of that she helps keep us more active. She’s our family athletics coordinator! 🙂

Good morning, it’s 8:16 am as I start to write.  We had a storm come through last night and by the looks of things, we got a bit of rain.  Very grateful for that and grateful that the severe thunderstorm warning we got before bed ended up only being a warning!  It’s so funny with thunder.  I was almost asleep and then it was like, “We now interrupt your sleep for these 30 seconds of thunder.”  (Kyle’s words there). Sleep all through the night remains elusive for both Kyle and I.

I had some interesting dreams last night, I remember snippets of them.  I dreamt about being with some old men and one of them telling/saying to me, “Do you want me to tell you how old you are?” I said something like, “3,000” and the man said, “try 5,000.” Other dreams were of being in an old parlor or Victorian type of settings.  I remember men sitting on the deck of a ship.  My mind must be sorting through a bunch of stuff I’ve been looking at in my waking world like the Victorian Trading Company catalog, the Aspern Papers film set posts from Jonathan Rhys Meyers and other stuff.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers To Star In ‘The Aspern Papers’

I don’t believe the person I am is that old but what do we know of our souls?  The energy our flesh encapsulates?  The flesh is just a suite, a covering for the soul.  The soul can be as old as time itself because there is no such thing as time in the unseen realms….for any other beings but humans is there such a thing as time!  The dream realm in me obviously knows that.

Another conscious Key that may have unlocked last nights travels could have been this awesome post, Abandoning Adulthood, from my friend Ally.  I have been thinking about this topic a lot lately!

Source: Internet/aka friend FB post: Abandoning Adulthood by Maureen

She was looking for something about adulthood, and found it.  Ironically, just yesterday morning Kyle and I were trying to figure out why we were so crabby and irritable and realized it was because we were having to be adults or what we call “Adulting.” We had made an appointment for Link to have his back left leg looked at and didn’t want to take him even though it was the right thing to do.  We had barely dropped him off and were getting groceries when the vet called to come back for him! Yay!  We dodged the almost $200 x-ray expense that is conveniently not covered under the Wellness plan we have both the dogs on….sigh.  What the hell is insurance of any kind really good for?!  It never covers what you need it to even though you are paying enough for it to cover everything!  Anyhew…we didn’t get away without spending money on an anti-inflammatory and in a couple of weeks we’ll see what’s going on oh yeah, he’s “obese”….sounds like he’s a little old man not a dog right?!

6 Aug 2017 – Link relaxing before Vet visit. He doesn’t look obese to us but apparently he is.

On the way to the grocery store after we initially dropped him off, we were in the car bitching about EVERYTHING!  I realized we were doing the thing we try very hard to avoid doing and that’s focusing on what’s wrong and not what we want to be going on instead.  While President Trump it seems like  like he’d rather be golfing instead of dealing with world issues and appears to be throwing away every opportunity put in front of him to make the world a better place,  it’s not entirely his fault America is the mess it seems to be.  A secret part of me thinks, is hoping, his being President and what he’s been doing is just some sort of epic reverse psychology experiment!  I wouldn’t want to be President or any form of government official these days!  It’s so easy to solve the worlds problems from the seat of our cars, kitchen tables, video game chat and social media forums but quite another to actually be the ones who have to sort it all out!  Anyways, Kyle and I finally talked ourselves to where the source of the anger was and it came back to us.  We decided we would rather be doing anything else but what we had to do….goofing off!  This process we went through is something I learned to do in AA with the acronym HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) and doing a self examination before blaming others through the day and just before bed for things when your angry or upset….making amends.

Anyhew…..it’s Monday again….time to get on with it.  I hope that wherever and whenever this finds you, you have everything you need inside and out to be fulfilled.  I hope you know that even if it seems like nobody cares about you, there are people all over the world, myself included, that say a prayer of love and thanksgiving for you every day.

29 July 2017 FFXIV wedding today, chalk drawing and dreams

Good morning to you – it’s Saturday here at 9:09 am as I write to you.  Hoping for rain but our chances are pretty slim for today.  The trees in our backyard are shedding leaves and the cottonwood next door dumped a huge branch in our yard.  This climate change is the hardest on the beings that are stuck outside in it – especially the trees.  I watered everybody this morning before the sun was fully awake…..not sure if it helps but I do put loving intention into the effort.  I suspect I would have to leave an open tap and almost flood out the yard to really get the trees the amount of water they really need.

We have a double wedding to attend this afternoon — online lol.  Some friends of ours are taking advantage of some bennies (special stuff) that comes with getting married in FFXIV (online MMORPG) we play.  If we get some pictures I’ll try to share them.   If you get married in-game and pay $10 real money per person, you get a special duel passenger mount, a ring that allows you to teleport to wherever your partner is (wouldn’t that be SO COOL to have in real life?!), special wedding gown and or tuxedo and special haircuts.  We’ve been teasing our friends about them about only getting married to get a double mount…..yeah we can be perverts sometimes LOL!  Unlike in much of our current world, it doesn’t matter “what” you are, people are just happy for you when you get married.   http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/ – link to website for game.

This chalk drawing managed to happen in spite of all the mosquitos and gnatsies that were trying to bite me and the ants who for some reason just have to be on our patio instead out in the yard.  I got to thinking as I was flinging errant ants away with my broom that this must be what’s it like to be famous.  Your trying to do your job and people (ants) just keep interrupting you for selfies!  “Fuck off you ants I’m working here!!!” Lol….yeah that’s why I’ll never be famous.  Anyhew….I like her hairstyle and color.  Kind of like Rachel from Blade Runner but neon colors instead.

I’ve started keeping a dream journal and have been doing better about remembering my dreams again:

The first one was the coolest as I got to go jewelry shopping without spending any real money lol.  I found this gold ring with a large round bezel set diamond in it.  I couldn’t decide on what facet style I like the best and to my amazement I didn’t have to choose!  The stone changed facets (diamond cuts) as I held it!  I jumped in and out of the dream it startled me so much lol.  I shopped around and saw other more inferior colored gemstone rings etc. but came back to the first one even with it probably being so expensive.  Can you imagine how cool that would be?  A sentient diamond?!  This dream may have been triggered by my admiration of the crystal work of Jack Storms.  He recently had a new sphere on his Facebook page: https://jackstorms.com/

Source Internet: jack-storms-glass-cube

The next dream was creepy.  I dreamt I was cleaning a house and there was so much dust everywhere – especially up the walls.  Pretty realistic to our house with two humans and three furry pets.  Anyways, the creepy part was when there was a skeleton of an old lady in a bed and I dusted over her too!  My Mom’s brother, Butch, was there for some reason too!  No idea what was going on there.

The last dream I remember was something out of a horror movie.   I am wondering if it was my minds way of putting together thoughts I have about each of us being fragments of each other.  I was in like this hotel or something and there were these chefs that were in separate pieces and then came together for the day – their parts slid together and stacked on top of each other.  At night they were in separate body pieces again and packed away in a closet….like zombies I guess?!  One of them yelled at me and was very disgruntled.  They said it was hard to have pieces of others that were billions of years old!  Yeah…very bizarre.

*ran out of picture space again….have to delete some stuff I guess.

7 May 2017 Caretakers can get PTSD too, poem (Bird), drawings from this morning and the Shamanic View of Mental Illness (Jayson Gaddis)

Hello to you, afternoon now as I write to you at 12:04 pm.  It’s going to be another hot, dry and clear day, clear if you don’t count the clouds of cotton billowing over our neighborhood the past few days.  Our cottonwood tree has decided to really let loose this year!  It’s like watching snow fall but cotton instead!  I’ve considered collecting the cotton to see if I could make something with it there is so much of it!

Kyle and I are getting synchronized again after the outage and last night we kind of had a break-through of sorts.  A couple posts ago I spoke of the “elephant in the room” when it comes to living with someone like me and last night I was goofing around talking in a German/Italian accent while making sandwiches.  Then Kyle asked me, “Do you want to take your pills?” I was hurt that once again he did “that!”  The “that” being when I was being silly or talking about something out of the norm and his immediately inquiring about my medication!  Well last night when it happened I didn’t take it personally and asked him why it wasn’t ok for me to be myself, to be silly which sometimes might include a foreign accent.  He said because during the last episode where I had to go to the hospital,  I was almost constantly speaking with the same accent!  What we figured out with this honest talk between us was that he has some post trauma from going through those experiences with me!

While we now agree that they were spiritual experiences I’ve had each time, it doesn’t change how difficult it was for him to be trying to take care of me and keep me safe while they were happening!  Like the first one here,  which involved my swimming across the man-made water pond we have down the street, looking once again for the man with long black hair (that has been constant all 4 times).  Poor Kyle was at work when this happened.  He found out through his boss at the time.  His boss was called by the cops as I was being loaded into an ambulance to go to the hospital. When this happened the first time back in November 2002, my ex-husband found out much the same way.  He had to drive to a Barnes and Nobles parking lot in Melbourne FL and watch me be loaded into an ambulance!  It was during that first experience I was in the Emergency Room and had the sensation if I were to lay still I would  slip out of my body.  I got so cold and only settled down after a kind man brought me a warm blanket fresh from the dryer.

How powerless must one feel to watch the person you love going through something like this and not be able to do anything?!  So it is natural to me that Kyle would have some PTSD from going through these experiences!  Caretakers can get PTSD too!  These are the kinds of conversations that need to happen to help Caretakers heal too.

Anyhew!

Kyle and I wanted to share this for those who might stumble in here who are a caretaker and or significant other to someone who has labels that include manic episodes…altered states of consciousness.  Since we have been through this so many times and have gotten through them, we want to share our experiences, strengths and hopes to help others.  Sometimes we just need to know we aren’t alone and that there is hope after going through such things!   I think we need more Shaman!

Bird – Jackie Wygant 7 May 2017

(Inspired by having my spirit time this morning and looking at the power line to see a Dove perched there preening itself lol.  I love birds so much!)

I do a lot of talking to the air

Secretly hoping someone is standing there

To care….

So much to say

As I pray

Hoping all in the world will turn out okay.

In this mornings sun I find I have indeed been heard

For sits preening on the electricity line

Is the humble bird…..who heard my every word.

I really love this new song by Enigma.  I’ve been listening to this group for 15 years or more; they are timeless.

The Shamanic View of Mental Illness

Screen Shot 2014-01-17 at 1.59.41 PM

I am reprinting this from an email I received from Malidoma Some, a west African Shaman whom I’ve had the privilege to meet, drive around Boulder, and work for for two days. Since I am going through what I believe to be a spiritual emergence, I am reading a lot on the topic. I want to continue to educate others. That what we sometimes call depression, bi-polar, psychosis, schizophrenia, might actually be a significant transformation in consciousness and a necessary stage on the path of human development. While this is a long article it’s well worth the read for those interested in the subject. Particularly if you have suffered from a mental illness or treat those with a mental illness. You might also like to read this short post Beyond Medication, Holistic Psychiatry. And, since I get so many private emails about this post, please ask to join our private community on Facebook here. Here is the excerpt from Stephanie Marohn‘s book The Natural Medicine Guide to Schizophrenia.

The Shamanic View of Mental Illness

by Stephanie Marohn (featuring Malidoma Patrice Somé) (Excerpted from The Natural Medicine Guide to Schizophrenia, pages 178-189, or The Natural Medicine Guide to Bi-polar Disorder)

What a Shaman Sees in A Mental Hospital

In the shamanic view, mental illness signals “the birth of a healer,” explains Malidoma Patrice Somé.  Thus, mental disorders are spiritual emergencies, spiritual crises, and need to be regarded as such to aid the healer in being born.

What those in the West view as mental illness, the Dagara people regard as “good news from the other world.”  The person going through the crisis has been chosen as a medium for a message to the community that needs to be communicated from the spirit realm.  “Mental disorder, behavioral disorder of all kinds, signal the fact that two obviously incompatible energies have merged into the same field,” says Dr. Somé.  These disturbances result when the person does not get assistance in dealing with the presence of the energy from the spirit realm.

One of the things Dr. Somé encountered when he first came to the United States in 1980 for graduate study was how this country deals with mental illness.  When a fellow student was sent to a mental institute due to “nervous depression,” Dr. Somé went to visit him.

I was so shocked.  That was the first time I was brought face to face with what is done here to people exhibiting the same symptoms I’ve seen in my village.”  What struck Dr. Somé was that the attention given to such symptoms was based on pathology, on the idea that the condition is something that needs to stop.  This was in complete opposition to the way his culture views such a situation.  As he looked around the stark ward at the patients, some in straitjackets, some zoned out on medications, others screaming, he observed to himself, “So this is how the healers who are attempting to be born are treated in this culture.  What a loss!  What a loss that a person who is finally being aligned with a power from the other world is just being wasted.”

Another way to say this, which may make more sense to the Western mind, is that we in the West are not trained in how to deal or even taught to acknowledge the existence of psychic phenomena, the spiritual world.  In fact, psychic abilities are denigrated.  When energies from the spiritual world emerge in a Western psyche, that individual is completely unequipped to integrate them or even recognize what is happening.  The result can be terrifying.  Without the proper context for and assistance in dealing with the breakthrough from another level of reality, for all practical purposes, the person is insane.  Heavy dosing with anti-psychotic drugs compounds the problem and prevents the integration that could lead to soul development and growth in the individual who has received these energies.

On the mental ward, Dr Somé saw a lot of “beings” hanging around the patients, “entities” that are invisible to most people but that shamans and psychics are able to see.  “They were causing the crisis in these people,” he says.  It appeared to him that these beings were trying to get the medications and their effects out of the bodies of the people the beings were trying to merge with, and were increasing the patients’ pain in the process.  “The beings were acting almost like some kind of excavator in the energy field of people.  They were really fierce about that.  The people they were doing that to were just screaming and yelling,” he said.  He couldn’t stay in that environment and had to leave.

In the Dagara tradition, the community helps the person reconcile the energies of both worlds–“the world of the spirit that he or she is merged with, and the village and community.”  That person is able then to serve as a bridge between the worlds and help the living with information and healing they need.  Thus, the spiritual crisis ends with the birth of another healer.  “The other world’s relationship with our world is one of sponsorship,” Dr. Somé explains.  “More often than not, the knowledge and skills that arise from this kind of merger are a knowledge or a skill that is provided directly from the other world.”

The beings who were increasing the pain of the inmates on the mental hospital ward were actually attempting to merge with the inmates in order to get messages through to this world.  The people they had chosen to merge with were getting no assistance in learning how to be a bridge between the worlds and the beings’ attempts to merge were thwarted.  The result was the sustaining of the initial disorder of energy and the aborting of the birth of a healer.

“The Western culture has consistently ignored the birth of the healer,” states Dr. Somé.  “Consequently, there will be a tendency from the other world to keep trying as many people as possible in an attempt to get somebody’s attention.  They have to try harder.”  The spirits are drawn to people whose senses have not been anesthetized.  “The sensitivity is pretty much read as an invitation to come in,” he notes.

Those who develop so-called mental disorders are those who are sensitive, which is viewed in Western culture as oversensitivity.  Indigenous cultures don’t see it that way and, as a result, sensitive people don’t experience themselves as overly sensitive.  In the West, “it is the overload of the culture they’re in that is just wrecking them,” observes Dr. Somé.  The frenetic pace, the bombardment of the senses, and the violent energy that characterize Western culture can overwhelm sensitive people.

Schizophrenia and Foreign Energy

With schizophrenia, there is a special “receptivity to a flow of images and information, which cannot be controlled,” stated Dr. Somé.  “When this kind of rush occurs at a time that is not personally chosen, and particularly when it comes with images that are scary and contradictory, the person goes into a frenzy.”

What is required in this situation is first to separate the person’s energy from the extraneous foreign energies, by using shamanic practice (what is known as a “sweep”) to clear the latter out of the individual’s aura.  With the clearing of their energy field, the person no longer picks up a flood of information and so no longer has a reason to be scared and disturbed, explains Dr. Somé.

Then it is possible to help the person align with the energy of the spirit being attempting to come through from the other world and give birth to the healer.  The blockage of that emergence is what creates problems.  “The energy of the healer is a high-voltage energy,” he observes.  “When it is blocked, it just burns up the person.  It’s like a short-circuit.  Fuses are blowing.  This is why it can be really scary, and I understand why this culture prefers to confine these people.  Here they are yelling and screaming, and they’re put into a straitjacket.  That’s a sad image.”  Again, the shamanic approach is to work on aligning the energies so there is no blockage, “fuses” aren’t blowing, and the person can become the healer they are meant to be.

It needs to be noted at this point, however, that not all of the spirit beings that enter a person’s energetic field are there for the purposes of promoting healing.  There are negative energies as well, which are undesirable presences in the aura.  In those cases, the shamanic approach is to remove them from the aura, rather than work to align the discordant energies.

Alex:  Crazy in the USA, Healer in Africa

To test his belief that the shamanic view of mental illness holds true in the Western world as well as in indigenous cultures, Dr. Somé took a mental patient back to Africa with him, to his village.  “I was prompted by my own curiosity to find out whether there’s truth in the universality that mental illness could be connected with an alignment with a being from another world,” says Dr. Somé.

Alex was an 18-year-old American who had suffered a psychotic break when he was 14.  He had hallucinations, was suicidal, and went through cycles of dangerously severe depression.  He was in a mental hospital and had been given a lot of drugs, but nothing was helping.  “The parents had done everything–unsuccessfully,” says Dr. Somé.  “They didn’t know what else to do.”

With their permission, Dr. Somé took their son to Africa.  “After eight months there, Alex had become quite normal, Dr. Somé reports.  He was even able to participate with healers in the business of healing; sitting with them all day long and helping them, assisting them in what they were doing with their clients . . . . He spent about four years in my village.”  Alex stayed by choice, not because he needed more healing.  He felt, “much safer in the village than in America.”

To bring his energy and that of the being from the spiritual realm into alignment, Alex went through a shamanic ritual designed for that purpose, although it was slightly different from the one used with the Dagara people.  “He wasn’t born in the village, so something else applied.  But the result was similar, even though the ritual was not literally the same,” explains Dr. Somé.  The fact that aligning the energy worked to heal Alex demonstrated to Dr. Somé that the connection between other beings and mental illness is indeed universal.

After the ritual, Alex began to share the messages that the spirit being had for this world.  Unfortunately, the people he was talking to didn’t speak English (Dr. Somé was away at that point).  The whole experience led, however, to Alex’s going to college to study psychology.  He returned to the United States after four years because “he discovered that all the things that he needed to do had been done, and he could then move on with his life.”

The last that Dr. Somé heard was that Alex was in graduate school in psychology at Harvard.  No one had thought he would ever be able to complete undergraduate studies, much less get an advanced degree.

Dr. Somé sums up what Alex’s mental illness was all about:  “He was reaching out.  It was an emergency call.  His job and his purpose was to be a healer.  He said no one was paying attention to that.”

After seeing how well the shamanic approach worked for Alex, Dr. Somé concluded that spirit beings are just as much an issue in the West as in his community in Africa.  “Yet the question still remains, the answer to this problem must be found here, instead of having to go all the way overseas to seek the answer.  There has to be a way in which a little bit of attention beyond the pathology of this whole experience leads to the possibility of coming up with the proper ritual to help people.

Longing for Spiritual Connection

A common thread that Dr. Somé has noticed in “mental” disorders in the West is “a very ancient ancestral energy that has been placed in stasis, that finally is coming out in the person.”  His job then is to trace it back, to go back in time to discover what that spirit is.  In most cases, the spirit is connected to nature, especially with mountains or big rivers, he says.

In the case of mountains, as an example to explain the phenomenon, “it’s a spirit of the mountain that is walking side by side with the person and, as a result, creating a time-space distortion that is affecting the person caught in it.”  What is needed is a merger or alignment of the two energies, “so the person and the mountain spirit become one.”  Again, the shaman conducts a specific ritual to bring about this alignment.

Dr. Somé believes that he encounters this situation so often in the United States because “most of the fabric of this country is made up of the energy of the machine, and the result of that is the disconnection and the severing of the past.  You can run from the past, but you can’t hide from it.”  The ancestral spirit of the natural world comes visiting.  “It’s not so much what the spirit wants as it is what the person wants,” he says.  “The spirit sees in us a call for something grand, something that will make life meaningful, and so the spirit is responding to that.”

That call, which we don’t even know we are making, reflects “a strong longing for a profound connection, a connection that transcends materialism and possession of things and moves into a tangible cosmic dimension.  Most of this longing is unconscious, but for spirits, conscious or unconscious doesn’t make any difference.”  They respond to either.

As part of the ritual to merge the mountain and human energy, those who are receiving the “mountain energy” are sent to a mountain area of their choice, where they pick up a stone that calls to them.  They bring that stone back for the rest of the ritual and then keep it as a companion; some even carry it around with them.  “The presence of the stone does a lot in tuning the perceptive ability of the person,” notes Dr. Somé.  “They receive all kinds of information that they can make use of, so it’s like they get some tangible guidance from the other world as to how to live their life.”

When it is the “river energy,” those being called go to the river and, after speaking to the river spirit, find a water stone to bring back for the same kind of ritual as with the mountain spirit.

“People think something extraordinary must be done in an extraordinary situation like this,” he says.  That’s not usually the case.  Sometimes it is as simple as carrying a stone.

A Sacred Ritual Approach to Mental Illness

One of the gifts a shaman can bring to the Western world is to help people rediscover ritual, which is so sadly lacking.  “The abandonment of ritual can be devastating.  From the spiritual view, ritual is inevitable and necessary if one is to live,” Dr. Somé writes in Ritual:  Power, Healing, and Community. “To say that ritual is needed in the industrialized world is an understatement.  We have seen in my own people that it is probably impossible to live a sane life without it.”

Dr. Somé did not feel that the rituals from his traditional village could simply be transferred to the West, so over his years of shamanic work here, he has designed rituals that meet the very different needs of this culture.  Although the rituals change according to the individual or the group involved, he finds that there is a need for certain rituals in general.

One of these involves helping people discover that their distress is coming from the fact that they are “called by beings from the other world to cooperate with them in doing healing work.”  Ritual allows them to move out of the distress and accept that calling.

Another ritual need relates to initiation.  In indigenous cultures all over the world, young people are initiated into adulthood when they reach a certain age.  The lack of such initiation in the West is part of the crisis that people are in here, says Dr. Somé.  He urges communities to bring together “the creative juices of people who have had this kind of experience, in an attempt to come up with some kind of an alternative ritual that would at least begin to put a dent in this kind of crisis.”

Another ritual that repeatedly speaks to the needs of those coming to him for help entails making a bonfire, and then putting into the bonfire “items that are symbolic of issues carried inside the individuals . . . It might be the issues of anger and frustration against an ancestor who has left a legacy of murder and enslavement or anything, things that the descendant has to live with,” he explains.  “If these are approached as things that are blocking the human imagination, the person’s life purpose, and even the person’s view of life as something that can improve, then it makes sense to begin thinking in terms of how to turn that blockage into a roadway that can lead to something more creative and more fulfilling.”

The example of issues with an ancestors touches on rituals designed by Dr. Somé that address a serious dysfunction in Western society and in the process “trigger enlightenment” in participants.  These are ancestral rituals, and the dysfunction they are aimed at is the mass turning-of-the-back on ancestors.  Some of the spirits trying to come through, as described earlier, may be “ancestors who want to merge with a descendant in an attempt to heal what they weren’t able to do while in their physical body.”

“Unless the relationship between the living and the dead is in balance, chaos ensues,” he says.  “The Dagara believe that, if such an imbalance exists, it is the duty of the living to heal their ancestors.  If these ancestors are not healed, their sick energy will haunt the souls and psyches of those who are responsible for helping them.”  The rituals focus on healing the relationship with our ancestors, both specific issues of an individual ancestor and the larger cultural issues contained in our past.  Dr. Somé has seen extraordinary healing occur at these rituals.

Taking a sacred ritual approach to mental illness rather than regarding the person as a pathological case gives the person affected–and indeed the community at large–the opportunity to begin looking at it from that vantage point too, which leads to “a whole plethora of opportunities and ritual initiative that can be very, very beneficial to everyone present,” states Dr. Somé.

5 May 2017 “A house divided against itself cannot stand” – Abraham Lincoln, Why Did the Democratic and Republican Parties Switch Platforms? (Livescience.com Natalie Wolchover) and Proverbs 16:18

Good evening to you.  I hope this finds you in good health as you visit here…..sigh.  This picture says a lot doesn’t it.  How can they be so happy about something that if approved, could cause hardship for so many Americans?  Who do the people in this picture serve?!  Do they even know anymore?!  I even read that Rep. Chris Collins voted for this latest measure to repeal Obamacare but didn’t even bother to read it before he voted for it!   (http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/politics/chris-collins-gop-health-care-bill-cnntv/index.html) – you have one job!  DO YOUR JOB!  Is this indicative of what’s going on in our government?  People just coasting along and not paying attention to what is going on?!   Scary and embarrassing stuff that!!

So after I heard about this latest deal out of Washington, I went out and did a drawing and the phrase, “A House Divided” came to me and also the phrase, “Pride Cometh Before The Fall.”  In looking for the source of those words tonight I was lead to Republican President Abraham Lincoln and the Bible.

A lot of people don’t realize that the party platform of today’s Democrats used to belong to the Republican party and vise versa.

Why Did the Democratic and Republican Parties Switch Platforms?

Why Did the Democratic and Republican Parties Switch Platforms?

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th U.S. President and a Republican (left), and Franklin Roosevelt, the 32nd U.S. President and a Democrat. The Republican and Democratic parties effectively switched platforms between their presidencies.

During the 1860s, Republicans, who dominated northern states, orchestrated an ambitious expansion of federal power, helping to fund the transcontinental railroad, the state university system and the settlement of the West by homesteaders, and instating a national currency and protective tariff. Democrats, who dominated the South, opposed these measures. After the Civil War, Republicans passed laws that granted protections for African Americans and advanced social justice; again, Democrats largely opposed these expansions of power.

Sound like an alternate universe? Fast forward to 1936. Democratic president Franklin Roosevelt won reelection that year on the strength of the New Deal, a set of Depression-remedying reforms including regulation of financial institutions, founding of welfare and pension programs, infrastructure development and more. Roosevelt won in a landslide against Republican Alf Landon, who opposed these exercises of federal power.

So, sometime between the 1860s and 1936, the (Democratic) party of small government became the party of big government, and the (Republican) party of big government became rhetorically committed to curbing federal power. How did this switch happen?

Eric Rauchway, professor of American history at the University of California, Davis, pins the transition to the turn of the 20th century, when a highly influential Democrat named William Jennings Bryan blurred party lines by emphasizing the government’s role in ensuring social justice through expansions of federal power — traditionally, a Republican stance. [How Have Tax Rates Changed Over Time?]

Republicans didn’t immediately adopt the opposite position of favoring limited government. “Instead, for a couple of decades, both parties are promising an augmented federal government devoted in various ways to the cause of social justice,” Rauchway wrote in a 2010 blog post for the Chronicles of Higher Education. Only gradually did Republican rhetoric drift to the counterarguments. The party’s small-government platform cemented in the 1930s with its heated opposition to the New Deal.

But why did Bryan and other turn-of-the-century Democrats start advocating for big government? According to Rauchway, they, like Republicans, were trying to win the West. The admission of new western states to the union in the post-Civil War era created a new voting bloc, and both parties were vying for its attention.

Democrats seized upon a way of ingratiating themselves to western voters: Republican federal expansions in the 1860s and 1870s had turned out favorable to big businesses based in the northeast, such as banks, railroads and manufacturers, while small-time farmers like those who had gone west received very little. Both parties tried to exploit the discontent this generated, by promising the little guy some of the federal largesse that had hitherto gone to the business sector. From this point on, Democrats stuck with this stance — favoring federally funded social programs and benefits — while Republicans were gradually driven to the counterposition of hands-off government.

From a business perspective, Rauchway pointed out, the loyalties of the parties did not really switch. “Although the rhetoric and to a degree the policies of the parties do switch places,” he wrote, “their core supporters don’t — which is to say, the Republicans remain, throughout, the party of bigger businesses; it’s just that in the earlier era bigger businesses want bigger government and in the later era they don’t.”

In other words, earlier on, businesses needed things that only a bigger government could provide, such as infrastructure development, a currency and tariffs. Once these things were in place, a small, hands-off government became better for business.

Lincoln’s House Divided Speech

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lincoln in 1858

The House Divided Speech was an address given by Abraham Lincoln (who would later become President of the United States) on June 16, 1858, at what was then the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, upon accepting the Illinois Republican Party‘s nomination as that state’s United States senator. The speech became the launching point for his unsuccessful campaign for the Senate seat held by Stephen A. Douglas; this campaign would climax with the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858.

Lincoln’s remarks in Springfield created an image of the danger of slavery-based disunion, and it rallied Republicans across the North. Along with the Gettysburg Address and his second inaugural address, this became one of the best-known speeches of his career.

The best-known passage of the speech is:[1]

A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other. Either the opponents of slavery will arrest the further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward, till it shall become lawful in all the States, old as well as new — North as well as South.

Lincoln’s goals with this speech were, firstly, to differentiate himself from Douglas, the incumbent; and secondly, to publicly voice a prophecy for the future. Douglas had long advocated popular sovereignty, under which the settlers in each new territory decided their own status as a slave or free state; he had repeatedly asserted that the proper application of popular sovereignty would end slavery-induced conflict, and would allow northern and southern states to resume their peaceful coexistence. Lincoln, however, responded that the Dred Scott decision had closed the door on Douglas’s preferred option and left the Union with only two remaining outcomes: the United States would inevitably become either all slave, or all free. Now that the North and the South had come to hold distinct opinions in the question of slavery, and now that this issue had come to permeate every other political question, the time would soon come when the Union would no longer be able to function.

This phrase has been going through my head a lot since inauguration:

a haughty spirit before a fall.

28 Feb 2017 Dandelion remedy and Peace (quotes Fred Rogers and Milan Kundera)

Good afternoon family.  How are you doing as you visit me here?  It’s 5:55 pm on this Tuesday afternoon as I start to write to you.  I’m feeling better after using myself as a test subject for the medicinal properties of dandelions today.  I haven’t been feeling well for the past couple of days and I was like “F-it! I’m going to practice what I’ve been preaching about dandelions!”  Well I pulled a couple of leaves, rinsed them and chewed them and felt almost immediate relief for everything that was ailing me – especially abdominal inflammation.   We don’t use chemicals on our yard so I feel comfortable eating dandelion leaves from our yard raw like that.  If you use chemicals on your lawn….don’t do what I did!

http://www.blessedherbs.com/resources/dandelion-backyard-herbal-remedy/ – interesting article, there are many more if you look, if you are interested in learning more.

Anyhew – not much else from here.  I hope you are well in your dimension(s) and finding your ways to make this world a better place!  Sending my love and a big hug to you!

“When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. 26 Feb 2017 Problems with owning a home built on expansive clay soil, outdoor chalk drawings, Three Ways to Keep Technology From Ruining Your Relationships (Daily Good Christine Carter)

Good morning family, how are you doing?  It’s 9:13 am as I write to you this increasingly cloudy Sunday morning.  May be it will rain, we could use more water here for as I write to you, I just heard another loud pop from the ceiling cracking in our bedroom lol.

Our house is built on a slab directly atop expansive clay soil.  When this kind of soil dries out it expands creating deep cracks and fissures.  Our house, not built with expensive piers or a deep poured foundation with flexible rebarb reinforcements, gets twisted like a pretzel every time we go through a dry spell.  The way most people combat this problem is having sprinkler systems installed around the perimeters of the house or soaker hoses set up.  The only problem with this, city water is so expensive!   We’ve spent a lot of money on interior repairs and exterior repairs (had 13 piers put in under our existing foundation) that get undone just about as soon as they are done because of this condition.  So fair warning to those looking to buy homes that are built on soil like here in North Texas, do your homework first!

http://www.foundation-repair-guide.com/expansive-soil.html – (see link for all info if you are interested)

Getting Control of Expansive Soil

Expansive soil, also called shrink-swell soil, is a very common cause of foundation problems. Depending upon the supply of moisture in the ground, shrink-swell soils will experience changes in volume of up to thirty percent or more. Foundation soils which are expansive will “heave” and can cause lifting of a building or other structure during periods of high moisture. Conversely during periods of falling soil moisture, expansive soil will “collapse” and can result in building settlement. Either way, damage can be extensive.

So I spend a lot of time outside so I don’t focus on this stuff too much lol.  It’s just frustrating for us to spend money that feels like we own a swimming pool or a boat instead of a house.  When we get some money together we will be looking for someone to do the exterior woodwork of the house with hopes that will be a fix that holds up for more than a couple of months!  These are the kinds of things they don’t figure in when they tell you that you qualify to buy a used house.  This is probably why so many people choose to buy new ones if they can afford it.

Anyhew….back to brevity.  Did a lot of chalk drawings outside yesterday and just enjoyed the beautiful day with clear blue skies.  Hope you have a lovely rest of whatever day it is for you as you visit.  Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it!

Three Ways to Keep Technology from Ruining Your Relationships

Jan 8, 2017— We all know there’s nothing like a warm smile, loving hug, sympathetic eyes, shared laughter, or long talks. These are the things that make us human and happy, and they are best done in person. Yet sometimes we are too busy to get together. Enter technology, with promises of improving relationships. However tempting, technology needs to be limited. While Facebook, Instagram, and e-mail give us the ability to reach and learn about more people, the parts about the experience that are lacking — vulnerability and intimacy — are the ones that bring us closer. Similarly, smartphones make us available 24/7, but this can mean constant interruptions. These can cause tiny tears in the fabric of our relationships that can eventually add up to real damage to happiness. In this article, learn three ways to prevent the damage that technology can do to our real-life experiences.

22 Feb 2017 Managing pain without drugs, Gratitude and more fun with outdoor chalk

Good afternoon family!  How are you doing there?  I’m doing better than I was this morning.  Feels like I’m having what I call a “phantom cycle” and my lower abdomen has been miserable up until  now lol.  We don’t keep pain medication in the house anymore.  I try to use holistic/natural techniques first and resort to other “traditional” methods as a last resort.   I have learned that when I am feeling pain mentally/spiritually (inside stuff)  it will manifest in my physical body.  I use an approach to dealing with my physically manifested problems that is being used in integrated medicine.  I start with the inside first and work my way out!  An acronym I learned in AA was “HALT” (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) to help me do this.  It’s a tool to help me figure out why I might be feeling a certain way.

22 Feb 2017 outside today

22 Feb 2017 outside today

This said, my physical pain is probably a combination of factors and one of them is one I can do absolutely nothing about and that’s just getting older LOL!  My body is changing and it’s taking some adapting on my part both mentally and physically…..heavy on the mental part.  I am not happy my physical body doesn’t recognize the young woman, sometimes child, alive and well in this body!  Some days are so fluid and I feel like I’m perfectly synched between my inside and outside self and then there are days like today!  Kyle was worrying about me and as soon as I told him I felt like this was an evil ovary phantom cycle, he was like “OOOOH okay!”

To manage the pain I was feeling today I did a couple of things.  I rubbed some Peppermint essential oil on the parts of my abdomen which are achy and that helped.  Then I went outside and took off my shoes and socks.  It’s really clear and sunny today and time in the sun tends to help me with most anything I’ve got going on.  I set up my pieces of orgonite in a circle and just stood in that space for awhile and that helped.  Something about having direct contact with the damp earth really helps me especially with inflammation.  Lastly I brought out my cot and laid in the middle of the orgonite circle holding my Keshe Foundation inspired copper healing tool I made and put the mostly bees wax orgonite piece on my head.   I know it probably sounds weird, but it works for me.

Another way I get help for this kind of pain is from my husband!  Making love and the big “O” do wonders for managing pain too!  I knew it from my own personal experience and felt validated after reading this book by Dr. Wilhelm Reich on the subject: https://www.amazon.com/Function-WILHELM-translated-CARFAGNO-VINCENT/dp/0285649701/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487796486&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=Function+of+the+Orgasm+Dr.+Wilhelm+Reich

I share this for those women out there who may be going through a similar “phase of life” and for the men married to women who are going through this but aren’t talking to them about it!  Hope this is helpful to you somehow!

After all this I finally felt better and did some outside chalk drawing.    Nothing spectacular but it’s a very absorbing thing to do and it allows me to be outside.  When I sit outside and draw like this, it really allows me to see and connect with the beings I’m sharing my home with.  There are so many “eyes of God” bearing witness to my existence and what I’m doing….reporting in to the “management” lol.  If you think about it, every living creature on the planet is a part of the one God/Source/Universe!  For example, today a tiny little spider decided it liked crawling around on a green chalk in the new box….may be they were giving me the managements preference for the next color to use in my drawing lol.

There is something magical about watching thousands of tiny baby spiders clinging to a lone thread of prismatic shine, traversing countless dimensions to find new homes.

Much love to you all today!

17 Feb 2017 Dream about Amber (Memory from Cats) and Drawings (outdoor chalk, pen and ink)

Good morning family. It’s Friday at 9:33 am as I start to write to you. How are you doing? I had an emotional start to my day.

I woke up after after a dream about being with my cat Amber who died last year.  Kyle and I used to talk about all the things we were going to do with the house and our lives “when the cats were gone” a lot but it’s different when you are just talking from when it’s actually reality!  Even as I write this a visual montage of “moments” of her is running through my head.  She was with me 17 years!

So there I was sitting on the toilet in the dark crying this morning thinking of how she used to greet me as I sat there in times past.  She loved coming to get a scratch behind the ears and under the chin.  This was “our” time because the rest of time was usually monopolized by the dogs.  I can remember her loud purr and how her chin would turn pink…how soft she was.  I can remember sometimes picking her up and just holding her and feeling so much love for her I’d just start crying.   The other night I burst into tears laying in bed with the nightstand light on.  I realized why may be Amber used to love to sleep in the same spot…it is warm and it feels good kind of like sunshine!  It’s the little things.  She was my dream kitty(helped me sleep), my nurse, my therapist, my comfort…..my dear friend. I don’t miss the “body” things about her but I miss everything intangible that made her Amber.  Ironically all that is left now is intangible and I am unfulfilled…I miss her tangibility!  Typical human nature….never satisfied right?!

Well the dream was of me being in a strange house and there she was! This is the first time I’d dreamt of her since she left us on 21 Oct 2016. It was so vivid. I couldn’t believe she was alive because I knew she was dead. I can remember her having some yellow fluid in her mouth. Well I was able to hold her and I can remember screaming and crying her name as I did. I guess I knew it was a dream and we weren’t going to get to stay together like that. I lost track of her and spent the rest of the dream looking and calling for her but no luck. There were other cats in the dream but she didn’t appear again. There was a weird intermission of me being in the same strange house with my mother-in-law Beth and her son Cole and a couch had just been moved. Well apparently underneath it was a bunch of jewelry that had fallen under there. Some of it was crushed and bent beyond repair. I can remember seeing a little pinky size ring in the shape of a tree or something like that and trying it on.

CATS – Memory (with lyrics) – (one of my favorite songs even though I’ve never had the honor of seeing the actual musical!)

Memory (From “Cats”)

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember
The time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every street lamp
Seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone mutters at the street lamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn’t give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It’s so easy to leave me
All alone with my memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You’ll understand what happiness is
Look a new day has begun

Anyhew…..so yesterday I did some more drawings outside and in. The Crystal Eye drawing conjured an image of this device in the shape of an eye, almost like a kaleidoscope. There would be the clear faceted crystal in the middle and on the sides all these loose crystals of various colors that you could shake into the faceted crystal to make multi-colored images of light if you held it in the sun. A different kind of “Etch-a-Sketch” lol….”Shine-a-Stretch.” Yeah….no.

Anyways it’s the weekend again already and if it is for you too, I hope you have a good one! Much love to you!

Some individuals have left their abuser but they are still living in afraid or living in in jail mental; the victim have to get his or her life back. Living behind the wall in public isn't well for them. They have to make a stand for themselves and regain what they lost in that relationship. It will not happen within a week or probably a month. First of all its a learning process, admit to what they lost, and let go of the shame, pride, and bitter. Its up to the victim to want to be a Survior not the abuser.
