Hello to you today. How are you doing from where you are? It’s early morning here and a much better start to the day. The moon is at it’s “eye” phase. You know that glowing eye peeking in the dark look it gets. So many stars! The past couple of nights and early mornings the sky has been clear enough to see them which isn’t always the case….cue the “the skies at night are big and bright (clap, clap) deep in the heart of Texas….” song.
Pee Wees Big Adventure Deep In The Heart of Texas
So have you ever had a dreaming experience where it’s so vivid that you actually have feelings while your experiencing it? Well this past sleep I had a dream with a familiar, very pleasant feeling. The FIGMO feeling. What does FIGMO mean?
What does FIGMO stand for?
|FIGMO||Finally I Got My Orders|
|FIGMO||Forget It, Got My Orders (polite form)|
Well when I was active duty and we would get orders to go to another place we would write the acronym “FIGMO” on our official orders and put them in a prominent place until we actually got to leave. What did FIGMO mean to me when I was on Active Duty and got orders? “Fuck It, Got My Orders!!” Whether it was orders to leave a shitty job or go to someplace you really wanted to go, it felt so liberating….freeing inside to write those 5 letters lol! I wish I could remember where the person in the dreams orders were to, but I could feel that FIGMO feeling when they said, “I’m finally getting out of here!”
Last night before bed I decided to visit my Grandmother via the book she gave me and that I’ve shared parts of here before called Streams in the Desert. I found a couple of poems I’d like to share. The second one, ironically for today, coincides nicely with the FIGMO dream. Sometimes working in a job or living somewhere that makes you unhappy and or you are poorly suited for can feel like a prison. I have experienced these things in my past and somewhat in my present. Even after almost 9 years of living here in Texas I still don’t really feel like I completely belong here. But as the second poem makes clear, I am here because the God of my understanding wants me here!
Overheard in the Orchard
Said the Robin to the Sparrow:
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so?”
Said the Sparrow to the Robin:
“Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me.” — Elizabeth Cheney
A little bird I am,
Shut from the fields of air,
And in my cage I sit and sing
To Him who placed me there;
Well pleased a prisoner to be,
Because, my God it pleaseth Thee.
My cage confines me round,
Abroad I cannot fly,
But though my wing is closely bound,
My soul is at liberty;
For prison walls cannot control
The flight, the freedom of the soul.
*My prayers, love and hugs go out to anyone who see’s this today. I hope something here is what you needed today. It’s important to remember for any prison there is a jailer and there is also key to get out. Often the prison, jailer and key are all in the same place…inside of ourselves.
