Hi there. Hope this finds you well in your present moment. As you may have noticed I’ve not been doing so much outdoor chalk drawing lately. Part of it is because of the wonderful wet weather we’ve been experiencing here lately and part of it something strange that happened to me with color. I started to make associations, sometimes negative ones, with colors. The same thing that I was experiencing with specific objects, some of which got broken. Just taking a break from it and retreating back to pencils and pens for a bit. Honestly, I’ve never been comfortable with adding color to my art. It’s such a commitment! This past Friday I told my friend who has a couple of my paintings that she has proof I stepped out of my comfort zone!
Do you remember the scene in the movie Close Encounters when Richard Dreyfuss character Roy Neary is shaping his mashed potatoes into Devil’s Tower and exclaims, “This MEANS something!?” Wife is vexed, kids crying in the “Daddy your scaring me” sort of way and there he is trying to explain himself to people who just can’t understand the fuck it is he’s thinking and doing with those mashed potatoes!
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind Mashed Potatoes
Published on May 30, 2011
Dinner scene in the 1977 classic movie ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ from director Steven Spielberg. Starring Richard Dreyfuss. Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss) can’t get the image of the Devil’s Tower out of his head, and creates the shape of it in mashed potatoes…

Life is kind of like that for me sometimes lol! What the fuck is she thinking?! What the fuck is she doing?! What is wrong with her?! Thankfully my dogs just want to be along for the ride and my husband actually gets the meaning behind most of my art and other expressions. Sometimes we’ve been known to both shape our piles of mashed potatoes into Devil’s Tower, look at each other and not have to say it.
Some of you may find my “numbers thing” odd. It’s become for me what doing a crossword puzzle or Suduko might be for someone else. I am finding there is honesty in numbers that I don’t always find in words. Like people, words don’t always mean what they say.
“Defragging a computer” = 190/10/1
Defragment = 93/12/3 cycle
Prayer = 83/11/2/1
Pray = 60/6/3 cycle
Meditate = 77/14/5 (talk about an intersection in the numbers, #Christ =77)
Chant = 46/10/1
“Moment of silence” = 168/15/6/3 cycle
= 717/15/6/3 cycle
“It all passes through, let it go” = 318/12/3 cycle (one of my mantras when I’m trying to calm myself down)
anxiety = 98/17/8/4/2/1
fear = 30/3 cycle
worry = 99/18/9 cycle
happiness = 107/8/4/2/1
emotion = 91/10/1
feeling = 58/13/4/2/1
= 483/15/6/3 cycle (the numeric value of my mantra is in the numeric summary of words associated with it.)
= 1518/168/15/6/3 cycle (adding it all up) = “Moment of silence” = 168/15/6/3 cycle
Side note – saw just this morning they are taking another look at Pluto. Just yesterday afternoon I was thinking about this too! I added it back in and it seems to make sense to do that. :
“Milky Way Galaxy” = 189/18/9 cycle
166 + 752 = 918 (same numeric values as Milky Way Galaxy)
“Solar system” = 166/12/13/4/2/1
Mercury = 103/4/2/1 Venus = 81/9 cycle Earth = 52/7 Mars = 51/6/3 cycle
Jupiter = 99/18/9 cycle Saturn = 93/12/3 cycle Uranus = 94/13/4/2/1
Neptune = 95/14/5
= 668/20/2 or 38/11/2
Pluto = 84/12/3 cycle
668 + 84 = 752/14/5 or 41/5 (5 like a celestial body? celestial body = 132/6/3 cycle)
Pluto should be reclassified as a planet, experts say
