Hello! It’s the first day of school for us here in Alvarado TX and I can already hear the train of traffic starting behind the house. Must be some new folks driving to school now – lots of stereo thumping and bass going by. It’s hard to get motivated to go back to school! Even as long ago as that’s been for me, I still remember the feeling. Kind of the same feeling you get on Sunday night before having to go back to work on Monday! “Do I have to go?!”
I was hoping the city would fix the road problem before all this started but they weren’t able to I guess. Between the extreme heat and now the rain and wet I guess it wasn’t possible. Every once in a while we hear a loud thump that sounds like thunder as someone who doesn’t know the divet is there hits it. The dogs are reasonable to freak out about it!
It was 32 years ago today that I joined the Air Force. I was medically retired from being a Personnelist (basically I flew a desk aka I was a secretary) in September 2002. Man I’m getting old but just in numbers lool! I don’t miss that part of my life but I will always miss many of the people I had the honor to work with. It was a great experience to work with people from all walks of life and not care about our differences. We were a team and in many cases close like family. I think of these people often and hope wherever and whenever life has taken them that they are well.
Last night –
Had a couple of interesting dreams. I’ve been having a lot of them lately. The first one was about being a bird and flying. I flew into a wood where there was a group of people gathered. A woman was telling me to follow the currents. I veered off course but then I saw a flock of birds and started to follow them. I ended up near a woman who changed into a leopard cat. Something about her car getting stuck. I remember seeing the tail lights of a car. Just before I woke from this dream I flew into a brush of nettles – a thorny bushes – and couldn’t find my way out.
The dream before I woke up was interesting. I was trying out for a sports team. I was a tomboy and they could tell. Then I remember being back stage wearing a jacket and had a cigar or something in my mouth. I was confident even with not knowing what song I was going to sing. I went out to a room full of people and started singing about unity and freedom like a black woman might, a very big and powerful voice. The crowd wasn’t sure about me!
Nap yesterday –
I dreamt I was doing some exercise routine like aerobics outside in the sunshine in front of a tall white house. I could see someone in the top floor window moving/watching me. It wasn’t “me” in the dream. The way I could tell it wasn’t me was I could see my thighs/knees/legs were very thick and muscular. My skin was reddish brown. I was moving very fast, effortless almost like a child might. My hands were smaller. I woke up from this dream hearing Native American singing set to very fast paced electronic dance music.
Changing gears: OWLS! (owls are symbolic of wisdom and learning – which is perfect for folks going back to school today!)
Yesterday I commented on a post by a new WordPress friend Zarbakht. She had shared about her kitty Margo not feeling well and in one of the pictures Margo was sleeping with a Ty Beanie Boo Owl like I have in my collection. Well when I mentioned this, she was very enthusiastic for me to share more about these owls of mine. She apparently is very much in love with owls! I’m not sure if she thought I had real owls, as some people do so I clarified for her the only owls in my possession were of the stuff variety. However, my friend Cindy Knoke (https://cindyknoke.com/?s=owls) is an amazing nature photographer and has captured the image of REAL owls in the wild and near her property!
Anyhew – I love owls too. This is for you Zarbakht!
