Hello to you. I’m doing post this evening and probably going to take this weekend off. These drawings are my way of working through what I’m feeling about the headlines I’ve been seeing lately with regards to death be it natural causes like Chiyo’s or as in the case of Ellie Soutter not so natural….downright suspicious even. I can’t get my brain around why Ellie took her own life just before her 18th birthday party. My condolences go out to all those who knew and loved her. The same sentiment goes for those who knew and loved Chiyo….anyone on this planet who died today.
There is no understanding suicide. I’m several years from my Mother and her father’s ‘s suicide and know there never will be an answer to satisfy me or anyone else who knew and loved them. There is no definitive understanding of death….specifically the life that comes after. There may be all the scientific answers and clinical explanations for why, how and what death is but none of those ever give those left behind closure or peace. As far as I can tell thus far, no matter the way death comes, it is and will always remain the ultimate mystery.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

TOKYO — The world’s oldest person, a 117-year-old Japanese woman, has died. Chiyo Miyako died on Sunday, the prefectural government of Kanagawa, her home state south of Tokyo, confirmed on Friday.
Miyako, born on May 2, 1901, became the world’s oldest person in April after Nabi Tajima from the Kikai island in southern Japan died at age 117.
Ellie Soutter killed herself in remote woodland just before her 18th birthday party, her family reveal

NAIROBI (Reuters) – A blood-red moon dazzled star gazers across much of the world on Friday when it moved into Earth’s shadow for the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st Century.
This is a big week for anyone into the zodiac or who leans toward the more astrological mindset because tiny Mercury goes into retrograde today.
Astronomers debunk any Earthly wonkiness that may occur during Mercury’s apparent backward travel through the night sky. It is actually an illusion that the solar system’s smallest planet appears to put its gears in reverse moving east to west through the stars.
Nonetheless, all manner of hijinks are attributed to this galactic magic trick, including confusion, delays, miscommunication and frustration.
Even a bad date, or a poor work presentation is blamed on Mercury’s apparent backwards slide.
“The planet Mercury rules communication, travel, contracts, automobiles, and such,” says The Old Farmer’s Almanac. “So, when Mercury is in retrograde, remain flexible, allow time for extra travel, and avoid signing contracts. Review projects and plans at these times, but wait until Mercury is direct again to make any final decisions.”
