5 June 2018 Rag Rug Project, Drawing and Paradise (Phil Collins)

Hello there.  How are you in this moment you visit here?  I hope you are well.  It’s been very hot here so I’ve been inside most of the day doing something I said I wouldn’t do again – make a rag rug.   It’s a pretty messy operation lol.  The hardest part is cutting the sheets up into strips so you can crochet them into the rug.  Here is a video I found early on when I first was trying to learn how to make them:

RagRugs

As the sun moved over the house, I decided to go outside and get some vitamin nature and draw with the chalks for a bit!

This morning just before doing breakfast dishes, Kyle and I, without knowing what the other was doing, walked towards our CD player at the same time to start some music!  Love that!  We decided to throw in our Phil Collins Greatest Hits CD and the very first song gave me goosebumps….Paradise.  I hadn’t heart it in a long time and it was so refreshing, yet poignant (very sad story in the song) to hear it again.  Sometimes we complain about such trivial things, the “first world problems” phrase comes to mind.  There are so many who survive with so little food, water, clothing, shelter and unconditional love.  It’s not that our problems don’t matter or shouldn’t be acknowledged but certainly not wallowed in for long.  Sometimes I am too good at wallowing.

This song is a musical reminder to be grateful for our blessings and to help others the best we can.  Sometimes, I’ve found just a kind word and taking a few moments to talk is worth all the money in the world you could give someone.   Sometimes all a soul needs is for someone to see them with the eyes of their heart.  To be acknowledged straight eye to eye and then to know for certain….”I exist.  I was here.”

Phil Collins – Another Day In Paradise (Official Music Video)

Another Day in Paradise

Phil Collins

She calls out to the man on the street
‘Sir, can you help me?
It’s cold and I’ve nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?’

He walks on, doesn’t look back
He pretends he can’t hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, it’s another day for you and me in paradise
Oh think twice, ’cause it’s just another day for you,
You and me in paradise, think about it

She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she’s been crying
She’s got blisters on the soles of her feet
She can’t walk but she’s trying

Oh think twice, ’cause it’s another day for you and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it’s just another day for you,
You and me in paradise, think about it

Oh Lord, is there nothing more anybody can do
Oh Lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she’s been there
Probably been moved on from every place
Cause she didn’t fit in there

Oh think twice, ’cause another day for you and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it’s just another day for you,
You and me in paradise, just think about it, think about it

it’s just another day for you and me in paradise
it’s just another day for you and me in paradise, paradise
Just think about it, paradise, just think about it
Paradise, paradise, paradise
