Hello to you. It’s the day after Halloween and we did have one after all here even with it raining. We had a few kids but because they have trunk or treat in town, forgot they were having it the same day, most kids didn’t get to our neighborhood til 7:30 or later and by about 8 I was done. I just wasn’t in the spirit this year. May be next year.
Last night I got to thinking about things and was thinking about taking a long if not permanent break from this blog. A lot just because of being tired after several weeks of trying to acclimate to Kyle’s work schedule. I was praying, talking to the God of my understanding about it and left it with this, “make me care.” Well then I wake up to a dream that wouldn’t “let me alone” until I got up and wrote it down. It wasn’t detailed but it was vivid and the message pretty clear…..literally made me care.
It started with something about asking for and wanting a cold beer and someone saying there wasn’t any. Then I see my Uncle Bill as a much younger man laying outside in a weird place passed out and we (someone else was in the dream with me) waking him up by touching his earlobe. This dream transitioned to watching an angry group of young men as they were suddenly teleported from where they were by a flash of red light into being part of rows and rows of men who looked like the character Darth Maul from Star Wars. They were still angry when they transformed but their grumbles were silenced. They were all in black robes holding double light sabers .
This dream, in a couple of images tells a lot about what it’s like for young men in our world doesn’t it? How tempting is it to take a bunch of angry young men and transform them into a unified army of angry young men willing to carry out the right leaders cause? We are seeing it with many of the extremist nationalist groups right now – like Charlottesville and other places. When asked “why do you hate me?” They can’t even answer with more than the mortifying sign of programming….”I don’t know.”
Protester who hugged a Nazi pleads, ‘Why do you hate me?’
Courtney said he didn’t know who Richard Spencer was when he received a state of emergency notification on his phone on Monday.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott declared the emergency ahead of Spencer’s appearance at the school just two months after the white supremacist helped plan a far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that broke out in deadly violence.
Surprised that the emergency declaration wasn’t warning of a kidnapping or an impending hurricane, Courtney set out to do some research on Spencer.
“I found out about what kind of person he was and that encouraged me, as an African American, to come out and protest. Because this is what we’re trying to avoid. It’s people like him who are increasing the distance…between people,” he said.
Courtney, who spent nearly four hours protesting on Thursday, was getting ready to leave when he saw the Nazi causing a commotion among the other demonstrators.
“I had the opportunity to talk to someone who hates my guts and I wanted to know why. During our conversation, I asked him, ‘Why do you hate me? What is it about me? Is it my skin color? My history? My dreadlocks?” he told the Daily News.
But the man simply looked off into the distance and brushed off his questions as Courtney pleaded with him and grew increasingly upset.
“After beating around the bush, and avoiding my questions, I asked him, I pleaded with him, I almost broke out in tears, growing increasingly angry because I didn’t understand,” he said.
Citing the teachings of his father, who is a bishop, Courtney told the Daily News, “Something in me said, ‘You know what? He just needs love. Maybe he never met an African American like this.”And so he told the Nazi to give him a hug. And despite some initial resistance, Courtney said, “I reached over and the third time, he wrapped his arms around me, and I heard God whisper in my ear, ‘You changed his life.’”
The crowd around them immediately reacted and when Courtney pressed him again, asking ‘Why do you hate me?” the Nazi finally answered, “I don’t know.”
“I believe that was his sincere answer. He really doesn’t know,” Courtney said.
After the Nazi was ushered away by police, he took a photo with Courtney’s friend.
The 31-year-old said, “I honestly feel that was a step in the right direction, for him to take a picture with a guy that he hated when he woke up this morning.”
So who was Darth Maul for the Star Wars un-initiated?

“Fear. Fear attracts the fearful… the strong… the weak… the innocent… the corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally.” ―Darth Maul — Gnome-speakernotesListen (file info)[src]
Darth Maul was a male Dathomirian Zabrak Dark Lord of the Sith who lived during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Originally a Dathomiri Nightbrother born on Iridonia and known only as Maul, the infant Maul was given by his Nightsister mother to the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who trained him in the ways of the dark side of the Force as his secret apprentice on a secret Mustafar training facility, along with the help of a split personality droid. Maul became a master of Juyo, Ataru, Jar’Kai, and Teräs Käsi, with training in Niman, and chose to wield a red-bladed saberstaff in combat. Though well trained in the ways of the Sith and a Sith assassin rather than a full apprentice, Maul was technically a violation of the Rule of Two because his own Master was at the time apprenticed to another, the Muun Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. Plagueis however, was fully aware of Maul’s existence, and supported Sidious’s decision to train him. The primary reason for Plagueis’s support, despite the violation of the Rule of Two, was that Maul was trained to be expendable. As an assassin, he could perform high priority, boots-on-the-ground missions for the Sith without running the risk of exposing either Plagueis or Sidious should he fail.
“From this day forward, you are a Sith Lord. You have chosen the path of darkness, the path of power. You are Lord Maul. You are my instrument.”
“Your rage. You enjoyed it? You enjoyed wanting to kill me?”
“You will do well, Lord Maul.” ―Darth Maul is decreed a Sith Lord by his Master
Yep….I care. I probably care too much. I hope these folks are ready for what is coming.
