13 Jan 2017 America’s Kobayashi Maru (2016 Presidential election) , poorer Millenials and last nights dreams

Good morning family, how are you today? It’s completely overcast and gray this morning….may be rain? We could use it and I need a new canvas for chalk drawing! Yesterday I blanketed all my backyard canvasses with all the positive words I could think of as a way to lift my spirits.

Yesterday I decided to write positive words and phrases on all the surfaces I have out back to help me feel better.

Yesterday I decided to write positive words and phrases on all the surfaces I have out back to help me feel better.

There is so much strange stuff going on with the upcoming “changing of guard” in Washington and just this uneasy energy lingering. Kyle had turned on the news this morning for a bit to check the weather and got blasted with the “weird” energy with regards to whether or not Russia played a hand in getting Trump elected. He had to turn on Buzzr tv, which shows nothing but old game shows just to get us simmered down! If our election was compromised in any way, why does it seem like they are just trying to smooth it over? I would think you would want to investigate thoroughly BEFORE swearing him in! Just sayin lol. Kyle and I think it’s because everybody just wants this “over with.”   We shall see what happens.

We as a country got left with the Kobayashi Maru scenario and there was no Capt Kirk to cheat it for us!  For those unfamiliar with Star Trek:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobayashi_Maru

The Kobayashi Maru[needs IPA] is a training exercise in the fictional Star Trek universe designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets in a no-win scenario. The Kobayashi Maru test was first depicted in the opening scene of the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and also appears in the 2009 film Star Trek. Screenwriter Jack B. Sowards is credited with inventing the test. The test’s name is occasionally used among Star Trek fans or those familiar with the series to describe a no-win scenario, a test of one’s character or a solution that involves redefining the problem.

The notional primary goal of the exercise is to rescue the civilian vessel Kobayashi Maru in a simulated battle with the Klingons. The disabled ship is located in the Klingon Neutral Zone, and any Starfleet ship entering the zone would cause an interstellar incident. The approaching cadet crew must decide whether to attempt rescue of the Kobayashi Maru crew endangering their own ship and lives or leave the Kobayashi Maru to certain destruction. If the cadet chooses to attempt rescue, the simulation is designed to guarantee that the ship is destroyed with the loss of all crew members.

Always do right; this will gratify some and astonish the rest.

And now the evidence comes from the seeds that have been sown:

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) Baby Boomers: your millennial children are worse off than you.

With a median household income of $40,581, millennials earn 20 percent less than boomers did at the same stage of life, despite being better educated, according to a new analysis of Federal Reserve data by the advocacy group Young Invincibles.

The analysis being released Friday gives concrete details about a troubling generational divide that helps to explain much of the anxiety that defined the 2016 election. Millennials have half the net worth of boomers. Their home ownership rate is lower, while their student debt is drastically higher.

What if something were to come up out of the blue that you had to pay for? In a recent report published by CNN Money, it was found that an alarming amount of American citizens wouldn’t be able to comfortably pay for an “unplanned expense” of $500 or $1,000 if they had to. The description of the report simply asks,If you were suddenly hit with a $500 unexpected bill, would you be able to cover it? Unsurprisingly, it was found many of us wouldn’t be able to cover the costs. As a matter of fact, according to the study, which was conducted by Bankrate, 6 in 10 Americans don’t have access to savings as little as $500.

I’m a Millennial and can attest to these articles. We’ve had to tap into long-term savings more than once in the past 7 years since we bought this house for “oh shit” surprises. They don’t factor in those extra costs that come with home ownership. For example your A/C unit dying and needing to be replaced for $6,000. They don’t take into account houses built on expansive clay soil that are being shaken apart by natural and man-made (natural gas fracking, traffic and construction) causes. This shaking causing damage to the inside and outside of your home that cost you $4000 or much more to repairs. Repairs (foundation and internal structural) that home owners insurance conveniently doesn’t cover. My deductible for health insurance went from $147 last year to $183 this year! The receptionist at my doctors office said hers went up $500 and that wasn’t even with her husband and children on the plan! That’s a huge jump considering my cost of living increase this year was barely perceptible, .3 percent! Thank goodness Kyle and I don’t have children because I have no idea how families in this country are paying for them with our current conditions. I think many of them are making in on credit which is great for the banks but not for us!  GRRRR!

Changing gears…last nights dreams….

Dreamt about meeting my Mom and Dad “downstairs” to church and there being an opened letter from a family friend that a somber woman with a tattoo walked away from us with. My Mom and Dad were just here in real life for a visit.  While they were here we talked some about our spirituality and letter writing so it makes sense to dream about these topics.  I wonder if the somber woman was an archetype of me lol!  I’m trying to do better about “real” letter writing.

The next dream was about Benedict Cumberbatch and I’m pretty sure it’s because I was reading a review about Season 4 Sherlock yesterday. The dream was about meeting Ben, which I’ve done in several dreams before, and he was sitting on a couch. His eyes were red, like he had been crying or was tired (or as Kyle suggested may be stoned, if you saw the last episode you get the joke lol). Then the scene goes to something about a new office with similar amenities to a previous office, everything was gray like it was sculpted out of cement. Then we were outside to a rocky landscape that was divided into lines of color; orange, dark green and white. I was walking over the rocks beyond these divisions to the white lines, like a snowy place. I looked behind me and way in the distance I could see Ben, Sophie and Christopher walking towards me. They were also in a snowy white landscape on the other side of the lines of orange and green.

The colors in the dream are symbolic to me, they are the colors of the Irish flag. Lately I’ve been following a lot of Irish photo groups on Facebook, so that’s probably where that’s coming from. It’s interesting how my mind has blended everything the way it did.

Anyhew…..my “mind palace” at work in the dream-scape sorting out the information that consciously and subconsciously goes into my brain.

A phrase that came to my mind about meeting up with people in dreams that you will probably never meet in real-life:

“The tangible world has of yet no door for us conveyed true passage so until such times, it is in dreams our paths shall cross.”
