Hello to you my world family and friends….how are things in your dimensions?  I’m doing alright today….tired…sad.  Kyle told me about this news headline he heard about on NPR yesterday and I was horrified:

Dead or alive: Is the Philippines’ war on drugs out of control? By Euan McKirdy, CNN Updated 11:24 AM ET, Thu August 4, 2016

(CNN) — New Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte campaigned hard on a no-nonsense approach to crime — and now the full impact of what exactly this means for those on the streets is emerging.

Shocking photographs published in local and international media show suspected drug dealers — the front line on his war against drugs — often bound hand and foot, shirts soaked in blood, their faces sometimes covered in duct tape, wearing crude signs proclaiming their alleged crimes. Murdered in the streets or in ramshackle, crowded rooms.

Tough warnings

And no one can say they weren’t warned.

Part of Duterte’s appeal to the electorate has always been his toughness, and willingness to tackle crime — although this approach goes alongside what critics see as a complete disregard of due process.

He’s repeatedly boasted that his presidency would see the end of crime, and on several occasions has hinted openly that he doesn’t oppose his police force or even citizens taking the lives of suspected criminals.

In a nationally televised speech in June, Duterte told citizens, “If (a criminal) fights, and he fights to the death, you can kill him.” He went on to say, “Please feel free to call us, the police, or do it yourself if you have the gun … you have my support.”

The Philippine Daily Inquirer’s “Kill List,” regarded as one of the most accurate records of the killings of suspected drug dealers by police and vigilantes, recorded 465 deaths between June 30 — the day Duterte assumed office — and August 1. Philippines police say at least 239 drug suspects were killed in the three weeks after Duterte’s inauguration.
WTF People?!!!  What is going on in this world?  It’s like that fucked up movie The Purge in real time…..we take so many steps forward and then go centuries backwards in one swing.  My heart goes to the people of the Phillippines right now….to every corner of this precious earth that has sentient beings suffering internally and externally which I would say is pretty much EVERYBODY these days…2 legs, 4 legs, wings, fur, roots….all that lives!  A lot of the suffering is completely unnecessary and could be stopped….if it was profitable of course.  So sad.

My prayer today, like every day, “Whatever is for all creation’s greatest good.”  I was looking for a prayer from the World Prayers page I found some time ago and thought it would be nice to hear some wisdom from Martin Luther King today:

Now I say to you in conclusion,
 life is hard,
at times as hard as crucible steel. (Mmm)
It has its bleak and difficult moments.
Like the ever-flowing waters of the river,
life has its moments of drought and its moments of flood. (Yeah)
Like the ever-changing cycle of the seasons,
life has the soothing warmth of its summers
and the piercing chill of its winters. (Yeah)
But if one will hold on,
he will discover that God walks with him, (Yeah. Well)
and that God is able (Yeah) to lift you from the fatigue of despair
 to the buoyancy of hope
and transform dark and desolate valleys
into sunlit paths of inner peace. (Mmm)
eulogy for the martyred children – martin luther king jr. – 1963

Not much else to say today….I’ll let the headlines and a few song selections do that for me today.  If no one has told you this today, I love you – all that is “You.”  Be “You” because I’m telling you, No matter what the noise of this worlds media and spin doctors are trying to tell us about each other and ourselves today, “You” are AWESOME SAUCE!

Chefs Serve Olympic Village’s Surplus Food to Rio’s Hungry Population
Aug 10, 2016, 12:41 PM ET
Two socially conscientious chefs have started an initiative to feed Rio de Janeiro’s hungry population with surplus food from the Olympic Village during the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

RefettoRio Gastromotiva, the project co-founded by Italian chef Massimo Bottura and Brazilian chef David Hertz, aims to “offer food and dignity to people in situations of social vulnerability,” according to a statement released by the City of Rio, which is supporting the initiative by providing a building for the group to use in the city center.

A team of international chefs will create meals daily from the surplus of “non-manipulated” ingredients donated to them by the catering company that feeds the Olympic Village (including more than 11,000 athletes), the Olympic Media Center, and the rest of the workforce of the Rio 2016 Games.

RafettoRio Gastromotiva is supported by a team of more than 40 organizations and individuals and hopes to continue to provide free meals to the hungry population of Rio even after all the athletes and spectators go home by relying on donations from sponsors, according to the City of Rio, which has given the group the building for the next 10 years.

The concept of providing free meals to the often-overlooked population of Rio is inspired by Bottura’s Refetterio Ambrosiano, an initiative where 65 international chefs cooked meals with food that would otherwise go to waste during the Milan World Expo in 2015.

Brazil is suffering its worst economic crisis in decades, in the midst of hosting the 2016 Olympic Games and two years after it hosted the FIFA World Cup, The Associated Press reported this week.

Many Brazilians protested for improvements in education and health care, the AP reported, rather than high-spending on mega-sporting events.

DEA Marijuana Announcement Allows Research But Rejects Schedule 1 Marijuana Reclassification

By Andy Hodges
August 11, 2016 12:48 pm
DEA marijuana announcement is expected to allow more research, but it won’t be for requests for total reclassification to move it from being a dangerous drug.

Sources say the decision, to be announced by the Drug Enforcement Administration, is an answer to a 2011 petition filed by two former state governors. The petition asked federal agencies to re-classify marijuana as a drug with accepted medical uses.

While the DEA said it won’t be in a hurry to reclassify the drug, the agency will be making important announcement regarding marijuana. The decision will definitely keep the federal government at odds with 25 states and the District of Columbia. These states have passed laws allowing medical use of marijuana.

Congress also called for its reclassification, and the National Conference of State Legislatures adopted a resolution asking the federal government to remove marijuana from Schedule 1. Since 1971, the DEA has classified marijuana as a “Schedule I” drug with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse on par with heroin.

The DEA is expected to announce one policy change for marijuana research. The DEA will also expand the number of places allowed to grow marijuana for studies of its value in chronic pain relief.

The University of Mississippi holds an exclusive contract with the National Institute on Drug Abuse and is federally licensed to grow marijuana for research purposes. The DEA announcement will be the latest development in the 46-year legal and policy battle over the status of marijuana.

The expected change would show that the Obama administration is open to expanding legitimate research into pot’s effects, even though the administration and Congress appears to be far from endorsing its broader use or legalization. Advocates wanted looser restrictions on marijuana and hoped that the government would carve out a special place in the controlled substance regulations or move it to a Schedule 2.

According to government officials, marijuana again failed an analysis conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and NIDA. The FDA concluded that medical and scientific data do not yet prove that marijuana is safe and effective as a medicine.

Schedule 1 drugs have “no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.” Schedule 2 drugs, such as the powerful narcotic painkillers that have caused an epidemic of addiction over the past decade, have medicinal value but “a high potential for abuse which may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.”

Regardless of the announcement by the DEA on marijuana, twenty-five states have sanctioned some forms of cannabis use for medical purposes. Four states – Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado – and the District of Columbia have gone even further, allowing its recreational use for adults.

Tim Curry does the time warp again in Fox’s new ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’

Tim Curry became a star when he originated the role of the “Sweet Transvestite” Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the stage and film versions of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” It was a breakthrough moment that brought both fame and bittersweetness.

For many years after the premiere of the film in 1975, the British actor declined to discuss the cult classic and didn’t participate in activities promoting the musical, which found new life as an audience participation event at weekend midnight shows. He feared being typecast and wanted to be remembered for more than his fantastic beginning.

But in recent years, Curry — who went on to many memorable roles in film, television and theater from “Clue” to “It” to “Spamalot”— has been more open to embracing his “Rocky” past. He reunited last year with co-stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick for the film’s 40th anniversary. And he’s front and center in a new version of the musical that will air Oct. 20 on Fox.
When asked during the Fox portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour Monday if he gave the new version his unconditional endorsement, Curry proclaimed, “I do, indeed.”  (He addressed reporters from a wheelchair he has used since suffering a stroke in 2012.)

My songs for you today from Gothminister, Dead Can Dance and APC:

Can you feel it coming
I said to you it was
Can you see them burning
The bridges and the cross
All that´s left are pieces
But we´re not the same
Could it be that nothing remains?
Can you leave me like you do
In your eyes there´s something precious
Can you leave me now, can you
in your eyes there´s something bright
That´s lost behind
Can you feel it fading
Breaking up at last
Can you hear the whispering
Of death to our past
We knew this would happen
Was written to the books
Could it be that something remains?
Thake a look around you
The war is gone and you´re the one now
Take a look around you
The game is won but you´re alone now
Can you feel it coming
I said to you it was
Can you see them burning
The bridges and the cross
All that´s left are pieces
And we´re not the same
But the memories will remain

The Carnival Is Over

Dead Can Dance

The storm clouds gathering,
Moved silently along the dusty boulevard.
Where flowers turning crane their fragile necks
So they can in turn
Reach up and kiss the sky.

They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye
Someone is calling.

I remember when you held my hand
In the park we would play when the circus came to town.
Look! Over here.

The circus gathering
Moved silently along the rainswept boulevard.
The procession moved on the shouting is over
The fabulous freaks are leaving town.

They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye.
The carnival is over

We sat and watched
As the moon rose again
For the very first time.

What’s Going On

A Perfect Circle

Mother, mother
There’s too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There’s far too many of you dying
You know we’ve got to find a way
To bring some lovin’ here today, eh eh

Father, father
We don’t need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we’ve got to find a way
To bring some lovin’ here today, oh oh oh

Picket lines and picket signs
Don’t punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what’s going on
What’s going on
Yeah, what’s going on
Ah, what’s going on

In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on brother
Right on babe

Mother, mother, everybody thinks we’re wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply ’cause our hair is long
Oh, you know we’ve got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh oh oh

Picket lines and picket signs
Don’t punish me with brutality
C’mon talk to me
So you can see
What’s going on
Yeah, what’s going on
Tell me what’s going on
I’ll tell you what’s going on, ooh ooh ooh ooh
Right on baby
Right on baby

*A P.S – Just because I’ve had them on my mind, saw on Mara’s Instagram yesterday that a few weeks ago she was giving up smoking and red meat!  She was in the country and found herself getting grossed out thinking about eating the cows surrounding her there!  Hoping Jon is doing that with her.  I haven’t given up red meat, just haven’t found a satisfying replacement for it.  I actually get cravings for it at times!  I was raised in the Midwest and that was a staple of our diets there.  I tried giving it up for like 2 weeks and all it took was a hotdog (faux meat product lol) to get me back on the wagon!  Sigh.  I’m weak!

  1. I think I will watch the horror picture show via dvd… it’s an artpiece somehow. Wish we would have such events where you can go to the movie in a costume and where you can be a part of the show while watching :o)
