22 July 2016 My first “light song” using my Music Maker lap harp to help me (a possible new way to make music) practicing the exercise of following through (for people with ADHD aka Monkey mind)

Good afternoon, it’s FRIDAY, not SATURDAY about 6:40 pm (thank you Margarita for catching my previous post time leap lol!)  and I’m excited.  I decided to do a ADHD exercise, I call “following through” which is something that people with monkey-minds like mine can often have trouble doing.  We get so excited about so many things we have trouble sticking to one thing and completing it.  This is why I choose crafts like drawing, writing, crocheting, knitting etc., that force me to actually to focus and complete a project.  Well the follow-thru was making my very first “light song.”

It’s nothing fancy but it’s a start.  I decided to use my cell phone voice recorder to help me capture the colors as they flashed from my pendant….this requires a skill-set….coordination of a couple different motor functions….and it’s going to take practice if I decide to keep doing it that way.  Ideally, I want to get a better video camera either in a phone or actual camera so I can record the flashes from the pendant and then go frame by frame to translate them.

The process was using my cell phone voice recorder as I moved my pendant in the sun.  Then I came in and wrote down the colors I recorded on the phone.  Then I assigned a musical note to the colors using my color code sheet and the Music Maker.  Then I cut out a sheet that could fit on the Music Maker so I could annotate the notes I wrote down….and voolah….song.  This is extremely basic….it could go to a whole new level knowing all the different technologies that are out there to do what I did here.  I’m not looking for any money out of this….this is me experimenting and following through with an idea.

Instead of making music follow light….I have chosen to help the light make the music!  Could this finally be a way for us to make new songs no one has ever heard before?  I wonder?!  TRY IT!  If this process…experiment…resonates with you, I would love for you to do it your way and share it!

    • That’s what I was thinking Easy! It’s so simple a child could do it. I can imagine a bunch of kids collaborating to do this together for fun. I guess I’m exploring what the definitions of life and communication are right now. Thanks for listening and giving feedback. Love to you!

    • Thank you for the feedback M – I appreciate that! Kyle and I agreed the ideal way would be to set up a camera on a tripod to focus on the pendant while I move it, then go back and translate the music that comes after. Keeping it simple! I ate one of the apples this morning and it was a surprise! It tasted like a green apple at first but then a hint of something like a flower is all I can describe! A green apple that has flower essences lol. I am very happy for such a tasty surprise! Love to you!
